Probably wouldn't be too hard for them to add. You can rarely separate a character from a work unless the routes have tons of different writers. Might be enough to just look at the character list and the overall rating but more info never hurts.

Is there a significant difference between writing styles and grammar today and 20 years ago? I finished a game and understood like 70% of the context but I started a new game from 1998 and understand like 5%. Or maybe I just got used to the last games writing style and that's my problem?

I've been a fan of visual novels for a long time, but lately I've been feeling disillusioned with the genre. It seems like more and more visual novels are focusing on gratuitous ero scenes and pandering to the lowest common denominator. But isn't that the opposite of what visual novels should be about?

Rather than focusing on cheap thrills, visual novels should be about exploring complex ideas and emotions. They should challenge us to think deeply and confront difficult concepts. In other words, they should be more like philosophy than pornography.

Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not against ero scenes in visual novels. But they shouldn't be the driving force behind the story. They should be used sparingly and only when they serve a purpose. Otherwise, they just cheapen the experience and make visual novels seem shallow and unfulfilling.

So let's put an end to the endless parade of ero scenes in visual novels. Let's focus on creating stories that challenge us to think and grow. Let's embrace the power of philosophy and elevate visual novels to the level of true art

hey guys, I know this is a really big long shot, but does anyone have the DLC for Dasoku, that Waffle eroguro game that released a few years ago? yes, I know haha ew >guro but there are three dlcs, one that got released to panda but the other two are rare since they both cost a DLC point each. These were: an "if" DLC and a supposed eroguro "enhancement" patch. I went through the archive and saw that old /hgg/ thread from 2019 that found a way past the net-ride dlc catalog and it downloaded, but it requires knowing the waffle catalog "code" of the game. As far as I know, there are no CGs or any images from these DLCs, only one from bugbug and that was it. It's a pretty niche game and genre and I know its nasty, but I really have an itching autism to archive them. If this isn't the thread for this thing, I'm sorry in advance.

There is this obsession with every scene directly contributing to the plot. There are VNs without plot at all(and I don't mean nukige) or with ton of non-H scenes not contributing to a plot. As for purposes it's mostly pornographic purpose, there are some exceptions of course.

Agreed, but I'd get rid of the binary classification. It's more like:

1) Plot-focused games that have a few sex scenes and ecchi moments in 50+ hours of reading, or more rarely have no H content at all. You don't read these for the H stuff. These are the definitive, "real" VNs. The ones that get people into VNs. They get the most famous writers, the highest budgets, and everyone talks about them and remembers them. Everyone is excited when they come out.

2) "Semi-nukige" games where it's not an outright nukige, but still has fairly high sexual content. You kind of read these for the H stuff, but also because the story actually looks interesting. Some of these will still have a really good plot/character development but most will be average and forgettable.

3) Nukige. These are for the most part 100% forgettable and no one ever really remembers them. That said there's still a market for them and they should coexist.

These should all coexist as they're all VNs, just different kinds. Ideally most of the focus is on Type 1 and Type 2 games though. The golden eras are usually like that (>>42023580).

Finished the first chapter of 46+1 Chushingura and it's a fricking time loop.
Man this type of story either lives or dies depending on the protagonist's growth. He showed a lot of growth in the first chapter at least but if it's another scenario like Takeru from MLA, I'm done.

The final route does have some problems because it tries to balance being a true route with being a heroine route and also has to offscreen some fairly important developments in timejumps for pacing reasons (that they added back in in the fandisc), and the final fight is really long and has so many phases and the part where they fight evil versions of themselves is cool but the snakes really suck as last bosses who just get oneshot. I really liked the VN overall but yeah it has some problems. Samurai MLU into MLA is a good analogy in terms of tone and overall plot beats although they're fairly different outside of that.

The generated copypastas aren’t funny though. You need a human schizo touch to make good copypasta that harkens Poe’s Law. AI posts are too predictable atm and are obvious bait but I guess considering the amount of anons who got caught, my standards are apparently too high.

I agree with some of the arguments for the subject change but I don’t think it matters at all. We are on 4chan, there will always be coomers and people with bad taste. If you were looking for only consistently high quality discussion about vn you would not be on this site and changing the subject will not change this.
