I could't find any high quality manga raws so I decided to buy it digitally and found bookwalker.jp but that website's monetization is absolute cancer, are there any other websites where I can buy manga and read it online? I live in a shithole so its impossible for me to get it physically

>> No.41939186

Bookwalker also has insane DRM that's not easily removable, so once you give them the money you don't actually own the manga, you effectively just borrow it temporarily with the limited license of being able to read it on their website.
It's absolutely unacceptable to me.
The best options (both for manga and ebooks) to buy raw and be able to actually own the thing and what you want with it (aka remove DRM) is to either set up an amazon JP account (bit of a pain to do the first time, then it's a breeze and probably overall best option) or the rakuten store.

i know there are alternatives but i assumed it would be worth asking the thread full of people using all three guides for extended periods of time what their opinions/experiences are before i go chasing what might be a waste of time.
just as an example, the section of the anki guide i screenshotted is drastically out of date and the alternative template they offer that seems better in their screenshots is actually drastically worse than the current default; it removes both the audio and which dictionary the definitions come from. just little things like this that make it feel severely outdated and are concerning. (if anyone knows how to make yomichan give single definitions their own bullet point without gutting other features of the template i'd appreciate it)

>> No.41939587

>>41939549
honestly yomichan is great for random words you see but using it for extended reading sessions is too awkward cause it struggles to detect some random readings and the dictionary priority thing is wonky. I just copy paste into qolibro so I know I get all the info

"Learning kanji" is the wrong concept. Just learn the actual words containing the kanji. Use Anki and either a premade vocab deck or make your own cards based on the words you come across that you can't learn on your own. If you can remember words without Anki thats always better, as Anki is only useful for "pinning" the word in your mind well enough that you can acquire a deep(er) understanding of it by watching/listening/reading stuff.

Regardless of what djt says, you should actually learn kanji. They're the building blocks of the language and it will make your vocab learning process much more efficient and rewarding than just going "oh, I think I've seen that mess of strokes before."
That doesn't mean to put off vocab in exchange for learning kanji first though. Do your vocab, and just try to fit kanji in wherever you can. And the more they cross over the better.
"Essiential Kanji" and "Remembering the Kanji" are alright.

あの作り笑いが下手なお医者さん
I thought it meant "bad doctor with that made-up smile" (with last part as connector to next part), but this doesn't make sense in context and DeepL and english trans say that it's meant to be

"doctor with that bad made-up smile"

but 下手 has the な particle so why isn't it a modifier for お医者さん? How does it connect back to あの作り笑い?

Of course i can just solve all my doubts by reading the next page but why don't they just use these very simple kanji for these easily confused words. I don't get it.

Just like every other language. There are no rules to language. Grammar "rules" are just an attempt to try and explain how language works. In reality there are no rules. And this is why you can't study grammar in a traditional way. You just have to get lots of input and then intuit it

perspective bro
you have thousands of days ahead
5 days isn't even a rounding error
do some every day untill you catch up
its only a big deal if you wish it to be
listen to some music and just do it instead of thinking about doing it

>you have thousands of days ahead
>5 days isn't even a rounding error
if you keep thinking that way then you're going to run out of days
someone who wastes 5 days will waste 500 just as easily. there's a reason why people who succeed tend to be younger. because the type of person who wastes days will end up being older

well i have 2 more fucking chapters to go and 2 problem sets to go
i guess i'm not going to bed on time, another goal i failed at

>>41953901
i've already given up many times before
unfortunately i'm not even good at giving up. anything short of completely splattering my brains into a wall is not an acceptable form of giving up, but i haven't been able to do that yet

>>41953908
>fight retards!
that is the burden of fucking up. no matter what you do, you will always be the loser no matter where you go.
the problem with life is once you make a mistake you never can fix that mistake.

>untill you catch up
one more point, that's the thing anon. at my age, you don't catch up. and the only choices you have in life are being a massive loser or being slightly less of a massive loser
at the end you're always going to be the short bus retard. there was something wrong with you to begin with if you took this long anyways so that magical "get your shit together moment" isn't going to happen overnight. even if it does you'll be a rotting 40 year old man

After you know most of the words you're seeing, and by most, I mean when dictionaries become more optional.

By that I mean when you're able to guess meanings or just ignore the shit you've never seen before because you have a good grasp on everything else.
