They can be, it depends on the wattage. Higher wattage versions will be louder, but dry a lot quicker. I have a 6w and its loud, but powerful. You can get cheaper USB pumps that are low airflow and quiet, but you'd need to leave them in for a good few hours to dry the holes. Ideal for leaving overnight as you could easily sleep with those pumps going.

You don't need to oil TPE every few months either. No manufacturers recommend doing that. So many people soaking in gallons of extra oil to their dolls and then wondering why its tearing or peeling. i general i would say they're not really worth it. if you're doing it because the ona is cold (winter weather) then just warm it up in the sink. if you're doing it for stimulation, then might as well wrap it up in a heating pad. the warmth from a stick feels nice, but it doesn't last long enough. it heats up to your dick quickly. if you use a heating pad (or blanket for something really big) it can warm all the way through, and the heat will last longer.

Silicone is even worse as its not quite as elastic. This was someone's Elsababe doll after he left her in a sitting position for too long.

Also silicone has a separate issue that can arise from posing, which is the silicone layer de-laminating from the foam core, which can happen when the doll sits for too long.
