for starters, I would have a better chance with the members of Scarlet Devil Mansion since im western. second I have the advantage of knowing every location roughly, it's hard to know exactly but from all of the different canon sources there are always a few constants like the library basement etc. Most importantly is that I know shit about the girls. Everything from canon and years of /jp/ threads have given me the proper rundown on where flan sleeps, what she smells like, what she likes(VERY IMPORTANT), what games she'll want to play, the list goes on. You do raise a good point in that most wouldn't likely consider you as a romantic partner but it is entirely possible and folklore from the east and west is littered with such stories of animals assuming human form to romance someone so its not out of the question at all, much less the gods seducing and claiming humans as spouses. Though yeah I wouldn't count in an anon safely taking someone like Rumia as a lover without a lot of danger. Someone like a fairy, an oni, or a myouren youkai however? It's entirely possible with enough persistence if you play your cards right.

You still have to consider that to these powerful immortal beings, a mortal lifetime is simply a drop in the bucket compared to theirs, there's simply a very low chance that they would view you as a partner after living for thousands of years and possessing such insane powers. Most of them exist beyond a corporeal level, so us as a life form is extremely foreign and strange. I believe that we would at most be a plaything to them if they were to take an interest. Unless something comes to mind, most of the folklore regarding spirits taking human form to attract a human revolve around this very idea that they (spirit/youkai/god/etc...) assumed that shape to just fuck with us or get their rocks off. I may be wrong.

There are enough youkai in the human village that there’s a decent chance you could romance one without even realizing it. They’re actually shown to get along with the villagers pretty well. Half-youkai like Rinnosuke come from somewhere, after all.

There are definitely some who still eat humans, but a recent whaletits chapter showed even a group of youkai showing some concern for a human leaving the village. And Mamizou went out of her way to save Kosuzu from Reimu. And in MoF half the bosses arent trying to kill you but scare you away because youkai mountain is dangerous for humans. The last example shows some youkai WILL eat you, but my point is it really just depends on the individual youkai.

just because they don't want to kill you, doesn't mean they don't see you as a lesser weaker being, they are simply showing empathy to humans as you would for a small defenseless animal. The fact that they are trying to scare you away in the first place proves that many youkai don't mind killing humans, which is a good chunk of the more popular youkai characters.

This is up to interpretation, but I don't recall anything form the canon that talks about his parents. Remember, a youkai is a faith based being that something can become over time, this is the basis of animism. Being half-youkai could just mean that he is in the process of becoming a youkai, just as Al*ce did.

I've put some thought into this actually, Danmaku could be considered energy based weapons and unless I missed some bit of lore that says touhou follows DB logic and all the games are slowed down for the player to realize whats going on the bullets are rather slow actually.
Your modern firearm would be many more times faster and powerful then danmaku bullets but do note that danmaku isn't ment to be lethal and its a more a form of dueling and sport thus its ment to be flashy not purpose built to kill. I'd warn any anon bringing in firearms would up the stakes and shouldn't be used outside self defense against wild youkai.
Youkai are supposed to be tougher then humans for sure but legends abound of humans with swords, bows, and other means killing youkai all the time, a gun being essentially a super fast crossbow would do the trick for anyone really, although I wouldn't go up against the boss Oni.
Don't forget losing faith likely isn't the only reason Yukari has the barrier in place and despite the bigshot youkai losing to the moon in their war humanity is destined to btfo the moon rabbits in open war.

A crossbow is less effective against youkai than a longbow. Crossbows are weapons for untrained peasants, not cool heroic characters. In the same way, a sword is far more powerful than a spear. Firearms actually can be effective, but only if they have sufficient meme power, e.g. a .44 Magnum revolver.

I'm the Anon that said I have no special skill but you could indeed do things you know, you could apprentice with Kourin and help him identify items at his shop, help out Kosuzu after she helps you learn to read and write archic jap, use your knowledge of math to become an account at one of the larger estates, become the mistresses bloodbank at the SDM in exchange for lodging, personally I like the idea of become a delivery man and getting the kappa to make me a bike to get around.
Possibilities are endless after all, helping in the fields or with manual labor would 100% improve your relationship in the village however and a good way to earn pay!

This, I can tell random stories of the outside world, go into details about random knowledge i've acquired, and entertain if nothing else.

Plenty to do for those who don't want romance. Old style society, where so long as you can bring something to the table, and adopt their culture, you'll be accepted. Magic exists, Gods exist, Everyone and their mother is vying for control, but no one has it. The closest to a ruler would be Yukari along with the other Sages and the Dragon, but their rules are loose at best, it's just that the few that exist are enforced viciously. Don't get me wrong, it's not a paradise, it's a very risky place where if you go wrong you will die rather quickly, but otherwise? It's a land of opportunity. Instead of stagnation, you will either live like a king, or die like a dog, but never a dull moment, not when incidents happen like, every month or so. A land that cannot be tamed. And due to the spell card system, they avoided most of the problems that would plague other Wild West like places: Death being constant. Sure, the Outsiders don't get such protection, but you won't be seeing extreme demographic breaks on either Humanity or Youkai, or even Gods anytime soon.

This is correct for 90% of the youkai, but you could run into special cases, Merry did'n simply lost the divine human image and dignity just because she mutate into yukari, the same with the scarlett sisters(if they were converted and not born), hypotetical magician marisa, Kanako, if is true that she was human at some point.

It's anybody's game, especially when you look behind the scenes on what goes on in the Human Village. Multiple youkai factions striving to install a puppet ruler on the leadership of the Village, Yukari herself has spies to keep track of the Humans and Youkai, you have some Humans even banding together to try and shake off youkai domain, you got the Kappa who don't really care about ruling but also don't want to lose their very profitable Human customers, and every Youkai agrees that if Humanity gets a strong leader, there will be trouble for them, but other than that, are very content to fight amongst themselves for who gets to be in charge of the Village indirectly, not really expecting Humans to actually do anything worth their concern, or at least that's the vibe I get. There isn't much worldbuilding in Touhou, but the behind the scenes stuff has a lot of intrigue. It reminds me of Japan during the Warring States, in that eventually, the Samurai decided that whoever controlled Kyoto, controlled Japan and fought directly and indirectly for influence, culminating in Nobunaga (and Hideyoshi)'s bloody unification of Japan, and subsequently rule passing on to the Tokugawa.

Honestly I feel sorry for the cattle that lives in the village, they have strong demigod and actual God teir players conspiring behind the scenes constantly to keep them in a state of one step above squalor with no hope of advancing themselves beyond their limited station.
Yukari's spies may actively weed out evil doers sure but also snub out anyone intelligent enough to advance human interests.
You have Kiene actively shoving youkai propaganda down the throats of the youth. Sure its nice that the village is becoming more educated but now they're also indoctrinated.
Gensokyo really mirrors the outside world more then was likely intended but somehow its even worse. Whereas outside we're polluted and conspired against by the powerful, they're likely human too. Ultimately we're still advancing despite the seeming stagnation but the humans of Gensokyo will never see that and as more youkai drift into Gensokyo over time it'll only get worse as those parasites continue to feed on their captive audience's fear.

I know we're not like to see something as interesting as the factions openly move against each other and openly vying for control of the human village or something but its an interesting thought. I'd love to hear more about the Hakurei God and how they fit into all of this but I doubt anything will be revealed this late in the game.

the only ones who dont have espionage network are the SDM, and it makes sense, besides remilia being a complete imbecile, nobody likes them and the sages dont want too much western influence and culture

WaHH specifically said the little cutey Zashiki are Yukai's information network though Okina can undoubtedbly back door one or more and gather info that way. Fun fact I think it was also WaHH that explicitly said that Aunn, as she was Okina's creation has all the information she sees and learns transmitted to Okina. Its implied, again in WaHH the hobgoblins were supposed to be replacement for the recently migrated Zashiki's as they fulfilled the same purpose both in providing "luck" and being spies. The hobgoblins weren't accepted in the village though since they didn't look human however and the Zashiki's came back from the outside world displacing them entirely.
And yes Remimi is incompetent but we love her anyways!
