A little question to all you drawfag
So, does one need a talent to be able to draw or you just have to work really hard to master drawing skill?

The real difference between having talent for drawing and not is whether or not you drew much and developed the motor skills necessary as a child.

If you don't have drawing talent, there are a lot of exercises you can do daily to develop that talent. Get a sketchbook and fill it entirely with primitive shapes (i.e. draw circles one after another across the entire page). Exercises like this help develop your motor skills, teach yourself technique, and enable you to draw basic shapes quickly and accurately. After warming up, draw what you see. Keep it saved somewhere and reference it even if it looks horrible. You'll quickly learn what looks right and what doesn't.

In short, yes it does require a lot of work to develop and maintain talent. This is true for everything, not just art.

Couldn't help but try...

I think while some people find it more difficult than others to draw well, imagination is most important. You could be an excellent sketcher but have no personality in your drawings which is simply quite dull. If you have a fantastic imagination, with practice and hard work you can do amazing work later on in life.

Having talent = Having the patience to observe. You can work on that skill by drawing from life. Spend like 5 minutes drawing a bottle or something. Then draw another one in 30 minutes. You will notice a huge difference. Pay attention to the contours and the way light falls on the subject.

>> No.4177699

> work really hard to master drawing skill

This. I study painting at a local university and I can assure you tenacity and perseverance is all you need to learn how to draw and paint.

Everyone who wants to learn how to paint or draw already has talent, if you didn't you wouldn't want to learn in the first place.

The key to learning how to paint or draw is quite simple :
You'll suck for quite a while, don't be afraid to make mistakes, don't be afraid to ask if you don't know something, read a lot of books on anatomy (Gottfried Bammes is what I would suggest).

DRAW FROM LIFE - drawing manga or painting abstract paintings it's all the same shit you have to draw from life to learn the basics and to aquire confidence.

Find a live drawing class near you a teacher when you're just beginning to learn is mandatory.

>>4177699 (continued)

The worst thing you can do is to copy manga or anime cells. You will never learn real art and you'll be stuck following a very unprofessional template. All you work is going to be stale and repetitive.

As I said before the key to learning how to draw is drawing from life, you might want draw manga - that's good, but YOU NEED to acquire the basic skill set first. It might not seem very logical to you now but believe even drawing vases and pots can help you with your figure drawing.

Never just paint or just draw, do both they're both absolutely obligatory for you to learn in a timely fashion.

I can go into a lot more detail I can write a fucking book on this even, but I'm kinda busy so I'm going to end this with a warning :

Art is hard to learn, even you if you have talent (hur dur) you'd still take a lot of time to learn it, it takes years to become a good artist and even more years on top of that to become a professional. Art isn't just a craft, it's science and you'll have to learn to use your brain in ways you never even imagined was possible before you started learning.

You're either going to become a good artist or not it depends on you.

Here, another Yuka. Maybe its because of Youkai Moe. To be honest, I think maybe her design is just a bit easier to draw.

I like it.
Don't feel as though you should be deleting your artwork simply because someone else doesn't like it.

Even if the proportions are off, it takes quite a bit of talent and effort to draw such pleasant to the eye figures.

you can answer that to yourself since you have the choice to, there are tons of methods, styles and models to choose from at your disposal, as long as you keep in mind the motivation to draw
