The lighting is very disappointing though. I hope it's just my dead batteries. I might consider tearing the whole thing apart and change the led with a more powerful one. Maybe also putting an USB cable for power instead of batteries.

I have her too isn't she awesome. The battery life on the star is INSANE by the way. She's been shining for TWO WEEKS now and not getting much dimmer. Funny thing is, I did. Its just that scratched up. The screen has been crushed into the buttons over the last 6 years, causing scratches that look like grease at some angles. That may be some fingerprints over on the left side of the screen though. You can see the button-shaped scratches on the right side.
