Well, I have a funny feeling you already know what the Jessitrice theory is anyways, so I really have no motivation to explain it any further to you. But what the hell. Motivation could be the same as Shkanontrice, heck, you could go with KINZO RAEP if you want. But there's more. Her longetivity in most games, the fact that she calls Battler and tells him about magic in episode 4 while she is "revived", and the locked room with George in episode 3, I believe.
Oh yes, and consider this: Kanon and Shannon are never stated to be able to disguise themselves well, and as such, for them to dress up as Beato is a bit of an asspull. The character who looks the most similar to Beato is stated in game to be Jessica. So if anyone could pull off the disguise, it'd be Jessica.

Wrong. Only in looks. The flashback says that Battler wants a girl that looks like Jessica but isn't Jessica. The fact that he mentions Jessica in the third person means that he most likely wasn't talking to Jessica either.

Looking through red text made me notice something. There's a lot of focus on certain characters, but the story is definitely not that linear, so I decided to look into minor characters, with no real theories backing them, to see what I could figure. I started with what was stated in EP 4 and how Battler handled it in EP 5: Nobody would mistake anyone for Kinzo.

In EP 4, we learn a few things: Kinzo is always dead, nobody could mistake Kinzo for anyone or anything, nobody could mistake Kanon for anyone or anything, and nobody can claim Kanon's name (HIS name, by the way).

Now, in EP 2, after the viewer see Nanjo and Kumasawa die from "Kanon", everyone goes to tell the rest of the family that they say Kanon do it. But it was stated that Kanon was dead. Of course, one could use the whole "name" thing, but there's also another thing: Nobody could mistake Kanon for anyone else. So the only way for them to not mistake him is for to not have seen him in the first place. Next, in EP 4, Gohda and Kumasawa rush to the guesthouse to tell Battler and the others of everyone dying because Kinzo was on a killing spree, and Gohda claimed he saw it and the weapon used. However, Kinzo is always dead, and nobody could dress up as him.

Conclusion? Gohda has been lying almost the entire time. The question, then, is why?

Gohda joined 2 years before, around the time of Kinzo's death. So he's not really super trusted yet. It's highly unlikely that he's part of the Kinzo Conspiracy. And he probably doesn't know Kinzo is dead. Chances are, he was threatened in EP4. A gun is very powerful motivator, especially to unarmed people. Note that, he doesn't have a concrete story about Magic Golden Missiles yet, the killer just gave him a general outline of what to say.

On the subject of the Kinzo conspiracy. Do you guys think that Jessica knows? In EP1, she's feeding all of the cousins information about Kinzo, almost like someone reciting the party line.

How about George? Does George suspect? His line to Battler in the family dinner about Kinzo having 3 months to live since last year, and him having "tremendous willpower" and extending his life by willpower alone, all while sporting his ridiculously cheesy smile, makes it seem that he's not believing that bullshit.

Being threatened works I suppose, but i'm wondering how deep or well thought out that fear is, since at that point, he should know that it's likely that the culprit probably also did all of the magic circles that he ran into early in his job.

Also, the other thing i'm focusing on is that everyone else lied too, and we can also suggest that everyone lied about Kanon's status in the room in EP 2. In that situation I feel like it's less likely for someone to be threatened. They may have planned to fake a death, but it became real later.

Another thing i've noticed, but COULD be taken out from stuff in EP 6 (I haven't read it yet, so correct me if it's wrong).

The introduction letter is sent to the family only three times. In EP 1, 2, and 3. In EP 1 and 2, it's written the same way and it's very elaborate. In EP 3, it's very stale and to the point. It isn't written in 4 or 5. Therefore, I wondered if the writer was chosen to die before they chose to ask them to write it, perhaps. Looking into it, all I can consider is Genji, since the letter is no longer written because he keeps getting killed early, or the letter is half-assed because they don't have his know-how.

If we're comparing Episodes to eachother, I wrote a little theory about Maria.

Up until this game I've always thought of Maria as the key piece. She had the standard chess king's crown on her head and she always belonged to the group of people that died last (as soon as the king dies, the game is over).
The only game where this wasn't the case, was EP 3, where Eva managed to escape even though Beatrice told Battler in red: "Due to your sin, a great many humans on this island die. No one escapes, all die."

I'm not really sure about the next part (EP 5), but Maria dying in the first twilight never happened before, and the entire 'murder game' as we all knew it immediately stopped. Blaming all of that on Lambda and Bern might be too easy.
Maria is in some way directly connected to the epitaph murders.

Also, if we follow Knox's rules, we find ourselves in a bit of a rut. In EP 1 and EP 5, Eva and then later Erika use door seals in order to help solve the case. But it's done before anything remotely happens, and they make horrible excuses when they do them. The bottom line is that it breaks Knox's rules, because they just used intuition to randomly place seals IN CASE someone went nuts and murdered fucking everyone. So what if we translated that in another way? As in, what if the seals were placed purposely, because an incident was going to happen and they knew it was going to. Genuinely. So seals were made to pass blame, and Eva's seals always pass blame to Natsuhi, who is innocent. In fact, it's odd that Eva, someone who is so vocal at family meetings, decided to "sleep early" in EP 1. That is very out of place.

Actually, Erika's excuse did make sense. Battler had solved the epitaph and found a lot of gold, and there was a big discussion amongst family members on whether he should become the next head or not (in addition to whether that gold belongs to him or not, since he solved the epitaph and found it).

The trolling Erika bit is what I'm having trouble dealing with. I didn't get the impression that they hated her especially, but they just went with the flow and let her have her fun. Kyrie even told her at one point to stop playing detective.

Eva beating Natsuhi seems genuine though, so I believe Hideyoshi really was killed, and Eva believed the reasoning that only Natsuhi was able to do it. She just got caught up in the moment and started screaming George's name as well.

Also, unless the gold was found and they suddenly have a rush of gold fever I don't think the siblings would kill for money. They won't gain anything. So I suppose, EP1 is pure "Beatrice" with all the Epitaph murders done by her.

I've also tried to focus on how the culprit works without trying to focus on a person in general. So far, the killer knows Maria and has played with her for some time. We know this because she was accepted into the alliance of witches in her own diary, written out of Maria's handwriting. This handwriting matches the letters sent out on October 3rd (returned days later via wrong address) related to money sent to survivors of the incident (people outside the island). The writing style also matches the writing style on the notes in bottles.

The culprit asks the family to solve the epitath, but gets or loses anything from doing it. The culprit kills because Battler returned. The culprit "keeps promises, unlike some" (if you want to refer Beatrice to the killer).

Questions that come to mind: Why give out money to people outside the island? "Sorry" money or perhaps a deal? If we're right to assume the promise was between Shannon and Battler and Shannon is the culprit, why is she killing everyone because Battler didn't return the way he promised he would? Killing over that makes no logical sense period. Also, if the letters were sent out to survivors, then they knew Ange, who was only recently sick, couldn't make it. So whoever knew Ange wouldn't make it for a long period of time could've sent the letter (Servants, those who normally live on Rokkenjima, Rudolf, Kyrie, and Battler). Do the magic circles that come up years before the conferences in front of Gohda have any relation?

I know that much. That's my premise on that the culprit, and perhaps everyone is a "victim", and nobody is seriously blamed for anything alone. Although a few characters, like Hideyoshi, seem like nothing is wrong, everyone seems to have a pretty pitiful story to tell. So the culprit has to be doing something we can forgive them for.

However, that "promise" has to be one of the bigger underlying keys to figuring out a definite "why".

And even though Shannon is the most likely person to be the culprit (Jessica also maybe? But Shannon admits it was towards here with no proof from Jessica, so it's most likely Shannon), we should look into everyone else's stories, based on the red text so we can figure their motives, like with Gohda's lies (granted, lying doesn't mean being a murderer or accomplice, it can be forced).

This isn't really my theory, but I liked it so I'm using it.

The epitaph murders are done by "Beatrice" to force the Ushiromiyas to cooperate and solve the epitaph. Beatrice gains nothing from it because she is just executing Kinzo's will. Kinzo has amazing foresight, and probably predicted that money problems will arise from his children. He probably hated that and was disappointed. He wants to give them one last chance/test. Solve the Epitaph, everyone wins. Don't, everyone dies. He asks Beatrice to set things up, so that they would be forced to solve the Epitaph.

The money is a prize for solving the Epitaph. Let's say there are 20 cases of money, one for everyone on the island. If someone solves the Epitaph, great. They become the head etc. What about those who were killed, or didn't get their fair share? They get the letter and get the money to rebuild their new life. Note that Kinzo's an ass and probably calculated that a couple of hundred million yen or some such is more than enough to compensate a life.

If they can't solve it, well everyone dies and the Ushiromiyas end with Kinzo. They weren't worthy of carrying on the name anyway.
