Music 2hus aren't that popular in the first place. Even the 1st Gen born Prismrivers aren't very popular. Perhaps people struggle to project compelling hardships & goals in them.
Small comitee of fans are pretty comfortable fandoms, if you ask me

- Designs are plain compared to other touhous
- DDC released where interest in Touhou was lower
- In DDC the grassroots, Seija and Shinmyouro were so well liked
- Being a duo seems to make neither stand out (Mai and Satono suffer from this too)
- Average sounding stage and boss theme

Illusionary Joururi is fantastic and better than Phantom Ensemble. The moment when the opening piano ostinato reappears as the main melody of the refrain/B theme moves to the ZUNpets is one of the best moments in any Touhou boss theme.
