I want this explained to me.

What the fuck is going on here?

Why did someone think this is a good idea?

The left panel depicts the smokers (you) mind and shows the after effect. This is a no-no. The top right panel depicts how much littering your cigarettes ruins the environment. This is a no-no. The bottom right panel tells you that you should carry a portable cigarette ashtray so you aren't littering it everywhere.

Case in point, don't litter. More specifically directed towards smokers.

>> No.4110533

Silly, Japanese. When will you ever learn to write in proper English?

>> No.4110546

>>4110533
No one gives a shit about English there. America has the leisure of wetbacks littered everywhere, Japan is a xenophobic country where even if they do find gaijins they won't want to hire them.

>> No.4110549

This is a problem of translation. タバコ in Japanese means both Tobacco and cigarette.

The rest of the propaganda is too subtle for an American audience.

>> No.4110550

>>4110533
In terms of punctuation and overall accuracy, the English translations on these signs are more proper than what you just wrote. I also think the second line is quite poetic. However, the concept espoused in the third panel is stupid. People will never hang ashtrays around their necks.

You don't seem to follow what I'm going on about.

I understand what the poster depicts, but why is the delivery so... Autistic?

I mean, tobacco leaves? Wait, what? Oh you mean, there are so many cigarette butts in parks where leaves are expected so tobacco butts may just as well be leaves? Gee, that's a clever pun. Only it's not. And look at the drawings, why's there a rooster in the park? Why are trees growing out of cigarette buts and why does the entire flowerbed have what I can only assume is a huge handle in the shape of a cigarette butt?

> I also think the second line is quite poetic. However, the concept espoused in the third panel is stupid. People will never hang ashtrays around their necks.

It's the exact opposite in my mind. The second panel makes no sense, but I understand the passive aggressive humor in the last one.

In terms of punctuation and such: yes.

In terms of resembling anything that an English speaker would ever write or say (the main criteria by which it should be judged): lolno

Not the person you were responding to, btw.

>Don't throw cigarette butts in the planters

Actually, this picture seems to suggest that if you don't have a portable ashtray you should just toss it on the street so the street cleaners will get it.
