I think ZUN would've made billions of yen if he had chosen to be fashion clothes designer.

I see your point.

But then he'd be gay.

Of all the Touhou merchandise, I'm surprised no one's tried to sell hats.

Dunno man, look at how he already dresses. Seems kinda gay.

You actually think this is "fashion" ?

What are you talking about? Just because ZUN is the hippest cat around doesn't mean he's gay.

Fashion means 'something that fashion critics like'. It has no solid definition, and is based upon the whims of the critics.

Unlike something like a book or a movie that has to have certain features to be a good book or a good movie, fashion is based on 'I have a good feeling about this' and general faggotry. If you ever want to see a trainwreck, go look at some photos of high fashion catwalks.

Plenty of Touhou hats have been made.
White Canvas sells them, but I've seen them at events too.

I will admit I've always liked ZUN's simple yet often striking character designs, but I can't imagine them working as well on the high street outside of a fantasy setting.

Lets face it, there are many attractive looking designs in anime, but most of them are impractical and stand out. Much like some of the crazier fashions you see paraded out, but never actually get worn (like a dress made of paperclips or whatever insanity is making news).

Good for cosplayers though.

Because they're expensive.

Wearing something with a renowned brand on it implies you have enough wealth to buy it.

It's the same reason why people buy Ferraris or BMWs.
