I looked at upcoming releases and November is actually interesting.

Man Jewelry Hearts is pretty mediocre so far. It feels like a ripoff of Trails of Cold Steel. Minus a twist about the mc.

The main thematic drive behind it was really strong, imo, but the game did not really follow up on the issues it presented as much as I wanted it to. My main disappointment was with Ruby, she was pretty much spot on 100% right but the game pretty much handwaved all of her problems. What was your problem with Noa, though? Alright so it seems like I might have a happy ending with Magatsu Barai on linux after all. The fix ended up being to use vmware (well vmplayer). The problem with vmware is that I have some weird bug where it randomly lags horrendously for no reason at regular periodic intervals. However, it seems relatively manageable these days. Basically just don't ever switch desktops/workspaces, get out of fullscreen, or mess with the window in any special way and it seems to run mostly fine and the before mentioned behavior doesn't occur. I only lagged a bit on a couple of the fancier effects, but that's to be expected.

Kinda in the same topic of racism, went back and completed Utatemeguri after putting it in backlog after 5 or so hours. It was very good, Yuine = top tier main heroine. Final solution was unexpected but the ending was nice, no complaints there.

It's alright, but gets wonky around mid point like the other anon said. I think the start has a good initial hook for mystery, but later the game just delves into dumping all of the actual plot in multiple long consecutive flashbacks - that really shaft many of the heroines in terms of screen time, with few getting dropped entirely from the story because they're irrelevant - before proceeding to the rushed conclusion. I'd say the flashback stories themselves were decent enough and enjoyable, especially if you go in looking for suffering, but it feels like the story should've either been trimmed down to focus on those parts entirely; or the game should've been longer in general to flesh out the initial setting, other heroines and scenes in the present while pacing out the numerous flashbacks in between them rather than giving all of the latter as one huge chunk.

But disregarding all that, yeah the game definitely fits the bill for enjoying broken dysfunctional characters.

There is no true (Ayana) route without the patch. IIRC there is quite an infodump on Nanoka's route, and you have to complete all the girl's route to unlock the true route, then you get another infodump when playing it. Just fucking read this if you want to spoil yourself

I guess it depends on what you define as moege. If you mean heroine-centric love stories then Haruuru and Damekoi are pretty alright story-wise as well. Shigeta's games like Princess Witches and Twinkle Crusaders are often a combination of sugar overload and fantasy plot with actual true routes and shit. But yeah, if you just mean games that are about dating cute girls like Hibiki and Smee's stuff then they're often pretty basic with little plot and an arbitrary ending.

The demo was good. Visually it's the most impressive out of the three new Key titles, which is kind of funny considering it's the only one in novel format instead of ADV.
