I just want to post about it somewhere. This was genuinely peak fiction, I don't think I've ever enjoyed a story so much. This was the first piece of fiction where I've actually spent time thinking and theorizing about the plot. Looking forward to umineko soon, also should I read rei?

Glad you enjoyed it anon, most people are of the opinion that Rei is worth it just for Saikoroshi. Myself included, the other stories are humorous side-stories.

Read the manga when it comes to answer arcs.
>also should I read rei?
Meh, you can save it for later, it's not super important.

Why? I usually don't read manga so if it's not significantly worse, I'd rather read the vn

I would agree that reading the VN is a much better experience but not only does it have a disappointing ending, it also kind of leaves you confused. So I would suggest read the VN first and then some parts of the manga after you finish it.

You should read Rei, Saikoroshi was a pretty satisfying addition for Rika's character. I actually think it's the most interesting chapter for her, although it's only a handful of hours long

I'll probably do that then, but I'm not too worried because the best part of higurashi for me was before the answer arcs and I'll assume umineko is the same
