>Today's update introduces the Hymma, which are key to gaining access to powerful song magic. Hymma are manifestations of the heroines' thoughts. They can be obtained during events in dive mode. Each spirit is assigned a Syncro Level from 1 to 4. Pairing a level 4 Hymma with a heroine will result in more powerful song magic. The problem is that the higher the level, the more difficult it is to make the heroine and the Hymma work together. Fortunately, the developers have come up with the following brilliant solution: To make the combination work, the heroine has to take off her clothes, since they are said to disturb the Hymma. Unfortunately, the girls need to be persuaded to undress. To get your way, you can "bribe" them by offering them items they might like. -RPGfan.com

Unrelated Sony news;
Sony has come up with a way of ramming even more data onto a Blu-ray disc, according to a Japanese tech report.

Nikkei Electronics Asia (thanks GameSpot) has said that the new tech will allow for 33.4GB of data per single disc layer, compared to the existing 25GB.

What's more, this will even work on existing Blu-ray optics, suggesting that players like the PlayStation 3 will be able to adapt to cope, perhaps via firmware, without the trouble of a costly and divisive hardware upgrade.

Apparently this is all thanks to the use of partial response maximum likelihood signal processing. That old chestnut.

There's no word on when this might happen, but Nikkei Electronics Asia has noted that Sony plans to propose adoption of its new idea at the next Blu-ray Disc Association family picnic.

Unlike you rich folk, I am and was poor. I couldn't afford things like that, especially when considering the prices here, you can literally buy TWO and HALF PlayStation2s in the US for one here now, and the price didnt change that much over the years, when the PS2 came out it was like 800$ and then you have to pay like 200$ for a modchip. The same shit with the PS1.

The only reason I own a PS3 right now is because I have a credit card and can order things from the internet, also I got a HDTV and PS3 for only 1000$ and thats bloody cheap here. PS3 usually go for around 530$ here, I got a phat 80gb new one with two games for 400$.

I own AT1, it wasn't all that good. I did like the battle system, but the game is too easy so it becomes boring. If the monsters were harder to kill, the battle system would shine a lot more. Though I do remember the final boss actually requiring some effort to beat which shocked me since I didn't pay much attention in any fight before it and won easily, then suddenly got creamed by the final boss.

I got the game because I was interested in the "dive into their minds to heal trauma" part of the game, but too my disappointment these trauma ended up being rather shallow and silly. Like the girl is playing out a typical anime scenerio as an alternate self which not so subtley represents her problem, then to help her out you have to defeat the evil bunny with a clock who becomes your next spell and ugh, it was dumb. I only played through it once, the misha route, since I liked her.

Never played AT2, heard it was even worse. This new one is 3D correct? That's a shame, one of this series pros was being 2D, not many 2D rpgs left these days.

>but the game is too easy so it becomes boring
The game is definitely way, way too easy. But that is a common problem among nearly all Banpresto/Gust games, like the Atelier and Mana Khemia series. You can safely go into any of these games expecting to beat it without ever seeing the Game Over screen. It can get annoying when random battles and bosses are all just minor speed bumps between story events. But overall, I don't think it detracts from the games.

The real draw of these games is the artwork, the music (especially in the case of Ar Tonelico), the character interactions, and the joy of finding item recipes crafting new goodies. And cool/silly/over-the-top battle animations and special attacks. Oh yeah, and loli. Can't forget the loli.
