Playing through Higurashi now. I thought the school scenes where they're just messing around were boring, cliche, and needlessly duplicative. But now that Shit Is Going Down I miss the silly antics.

Basically game should have been a school harem instead of a murder mystery. Discuss.

I don't know about that. The foreshadowing for Watanagashi helps you find out whose actually who. The whole K1 messing up Shion for Mion is what helps you solve it. The 'Mion' he sees from the festival on is Shion is she's systematically killing/getting revenge on those that didn't help out more in finding her beloved Satoshi. Plus, I think she was deep in level 5. But that becomes really obvious during the scene at the end where Rena and K1 talk to 'Mion' and she says something only Shion should know about but K1 doesn't notice/too retarded.

Unless you're talking about the club games only during school.
