I'm having trouble trying to figure out what this all means.

電話とか来ないとこ見ると、本人自覚ないっぽい。

On the phone *among other things* 来ないとこ見ると、but if you meet him/her in person they will seem self-consciousness.

*my rough guess*

I'm having a hard time understanding the "来ないとこ見ると" part. "とこ" has too many different meanings when I look it up.

it seems that he/she doesn't aware of [something] because [someone] doesn't give a call to [someone] and such

見ると　means something along the lines of "if (so and so is tried)".
来ないとこ　means the place something doesn't come to, the 来ない　is a relative clause describing とこ, which is place, like 所.
So this means "If you try to call and it doesn't connect, meeting in person won't seem self-conscious."
Or,
"If you don't call someone, meeting them won't be awkward."

This is all guesswork on my part, since I'm teaching myself Japanese on the side.

You're wrong.
It means "If the telephone doesn't connect, the person won't know (what you were going to say)".
Either that or "Using the telephone won't allow the person to understand what you're trying to say".

Nowhere in that sentence do I see "meet".

Thanks for the answers. I think I need study my grammar and vocab before diving into VNs.

I think I fooled myself with "自覚ないっぽい" for some reason I was thinking the "ぽい" was the "ish/like word: red-ish / tough-like"...
