Good evening everyone. I was referred to this place by a kind anon after having a discussion about the many localization issues in games. However after that recommendation some anons starting bickering over one of the guides commonly shared allegedly being made by some patreon shill and is less effective than the other ones. The two I've seen here are itazuraneko and tatsumoto. Looking at them both they seem pretty similar and basically cover the same thing so what's really something negative about them? But that aside I've been more or less learning on my on. I have the kana memorized and am currently using the core 2.3k deck as recommended in that previous thread. My reading speed overall is still slow even if it's all kana but I assume that should soon improve.

Tryl Axanael as you're starter VN instead. It wasnt the first VN I read in JP (I read a bunch of short nukige before and leyline) but it was the first one where I thought "this makes learning JP worth it" the game is a ton of fun and a love letter to being an otaku. The prologue literally starts with a chick starting a fucking gun fight at Comiket becuase she can't get the doujin she NEEDS. The game is fast pace so you wont be waiting around for it to get good. It's almost all dialouge and everyone is voiced making it easy to read. Just a heads up the UI is confusing and sometimes you'll deal with arachric kanji, but 95% of the game is easy.
