I think the xxxl one is based on the normal bust for DD, while the other one is based on the DDy bust. The "base" of the DDy bust is shorter than the one of the normal bust, so you get the difference that you have noticed. If you have a DDy bust, its better to buy the DDy version, otherwise it may not fit properly with the DDy waist

3D printing can be a hobby in and of itself. Only do this if you're good with finishing and painting the models and have enough room to keep it/vent it. If there's something you absolutely need 3D printed and you already have a 3D file, you can hire people to do it fairly cheap through Treatstock, you'll still have to paint it.

If you're good with using a proxy, Tara's Paradise on TaoBao has a TON of props cheap. Also, there are tons of sellers on Etsy that make custom props/food, especially if you're looking for consoles and controllers. Specifically on that front, if you want a classic console like a Playstation or a Sega Saturn, both have officially licensed scale models that can be purchased. There are tons to be found on Amazon as well, just search for whatever you are looking for and add on mini, wedding/party favor, cake topper or souvenir depending on the item. Target Our Generation dolls are almost in size and a lot of the food props will work for 1/4 and some 1/3 girls, but you may have to repaint them or rough them up a bit so they don't look so "toy".
With the Holidays coming you can find a lot of stuff in the ornaments sections, and in craft stores in the 'picks' floral section for wreath making they'll have some things too. For weapons you can use GoatGuns, for guns, and for swords look for letter openers modeled after swords. There's tons out there, you just have to dig for it and think around search engines on how to find it. It can be a pain.

As much as I can't stand Danny, I do like that he doesn't pander to the perpetually offended cry babies. Its a cool outfit and most companies would have folded immediately and destroyed the stock, which would have been a shame. He could have admitted the combo of pose, story and the uniform was a mistake on his part, but hes too arrogant for that.

Yeah, quite unfortunate. The ADL keeps making everything "offensive" and /pol/ constantly gaslights them, which, in turn makes lefties scream at everyone who has anything to do with skulls, numbers, or even some symbols that have nothing to do with being offensive on their lapel, and righties keep antagonizing them.

Niyamia and ShinesWorkshop on Etsy both do great work and supply their own heads as part of the price. They use legit heads and are both well known in the community. If you already have a head you want to use that's outside of the normal ones available blank at retail, you'll have to send the head.

Not sure really. I know Virginia and Florida have doll shows with a bjd presence but not specific to them. The only shows just for BJDs that I know are operating are Resin Rose and PNW Expo (both in Oregon), San Diego BJD Con in California, and Dallas Doll Con in Texas.

I only just started transferring stuff to the new desk so layout is still in flux, I don't like how I had to put both lights on one side
once my monitor arms come in I'll see if I need to move the desk further away from the wall anyways, then the lights can mount in the back (until they break again)

These are the ones I got. The pegs are compatible with the F3 frame, but I did have to add a little bit of tape to the ends as the peg was a little small. Also, the ball joint is two magnet sphere halves, not a solid joint. The color match was pretty close.

Thanks, i'll have a look on that store. its a bit daunting looking into bjds as a total beginner, so its good to have a starting point.

There was a Ram and Rem model (I think by the same manufacturer) that i was looking at a while back, but i think for a first 1/6 scale doll it would be good to have something more generic that i can change the clothing etc.

In case it’s helpful to anyone else sewing for their doll, I’m trying out the baby doll pattern from the Dollfie Dream sewing book, and I’m finding tear away stabilizer to be absolutely necessary due to the tiny seam allowance. I’ve never used stabilizer before, and holy shit does it help avoid a lot of frustration with the machine eating the fabric!

If your budget is 500$ you can easily pick up almost any of the custom heads on mandarake, just make sure the skin color matches the body you have. They also carry wigs though I can't vouch for the quality since I've never gotten one. Could also check yahoo japan auctions, tons of artists auction painted heads all the time (same deal with checking the skin match, you'd also need a proxy). That would also get you a pretty nice custom head from an artist but the wait will be pretty long if you do that

Oh nice, I always have this problem as well, so will have to give it a try.

A couple of useful things I have found are the wonder clips in place of pins. They help keep everything straight as sometimes pins distort the fabric at such small scales.
Also double sided water soluble tape is amazing. Great for adding zips and when you're sewing stretchy or difficult fabrics together.

Does that Dolfie sewing book have anything that would fit 1/3 scale?

Volks is currently doing a lottery for their Dollfie Icon girls, which includes two tan ones, and if you check mandarake/yahoo japan auctions you might find a good price on a recently-released Dollfie Dream Anthy, who is quite dark and lovely. There are also some other tan Dollfie Dreams (DDdy Kanu and their Doll-Point limited "sun skin" dolls which you can hire a proxy to order for you.)

Beyond that, there are Smart Dolls, and I believe a few resin companies offer darker skintones on anime-style dolls? It was either Tinyfox, Aimerai, or 2D-Doll. Possibly also Ringdoll... I'm not sure if anyone has made a list but from what I've seen, for the standard heads that are usually available DDH-02, 03, 05, 06, 07, 09 are usually a bit too big on MDD/DDP (though I'm sure you could make it work) and DDH-01,10, 22, 27 usually look best on MDD/DDP since they're either smaller or younger looking. I think DDH-04, DDH-08 kinda work as well on any size

The book is specifically for dollfie dream, so it should work for 1/3. It even includes non-overlapping patterns on nice graph paper for bust sizes S, M, L, and D each. It was easy to photocopy the pattern so I didn’t have to cut it up. This listing shows a bunch of the pages:

Overall, I’m happy with how this turned out! I modified the baby doll pattern to add a front slit (since it’s for toobie), and I tied the straps like a halter instead of attaching them to the back.

That's not what I meant. There's a constant flow of them, but consider their releases like "editions." once that release sells out they don't remake them but there's always some new variant or theme that follows.

I got my start in this hobby with Azone Pure Neemo dolls, which are small and very cute. There's always some for sale on amiami and yahoo japan auctions. You can also look at Parabox/Obitsu, who have dolls in many sizes for an affordable price.
