Yes she is. In episode 5 she's just as bad, the parents want to meet up to discuss how to steal money from Krauss-kun and Natsuhi-chan, and she realizes she was going to take Maria to Delsney land. She then sees that Maria is up past her bedtime playing happily with Sakutarou and readies her belt, deciding to use that as an excuse not to take her so she can go to the meeting.

She's a terrible mother.

I know that somewhere underneath her misplaced priorities and horrible tendencies to abuse Maria she is a good person. I saw that in Episode 2 where the only thing that kept her from dragging herself and her daughter out of hell itself was a shattered ankle

It's just so sad. I want to like her.. I really do ;_;
