so just started this game this week, got a few questions to ask before fighting with the pros online.

For decks, do you go ahead and max out your skills or do you not need them? I believe they make the skills a tad stronger, and become more useful/longer, but will maxing it out make a difference?

Also for spell cards, do you abuse the low costing cards or use only the high level cards? how many should i carry? any way to force others into it without that fucking blocking?

Also for them red cards which i still cant understand what most of them do, should i even bother having in the deck?

Lastly do I have to learn them linking combos and abuse it like hell? All I know is do the normal combo and wall bounce them and then pull the spell card.

China is fun, just cause you can link off into skills and her China Star doesn't make her afraid of anything. Fucking super cancels see i have to fill my deck with china stars in order to get up to the fucker and make sure my move hits while they are beating me.

Hmm, well, I guess you're not talking to me, but I'll give you a little bit of my input...maybe it'll help. First off, this site helps quite a bit: http://swr.mizuumi.net/index.php/Main_Page.. It has some decent combos, system, skill, and spellcard descriptions, and weather descriptions.

The spellcards you use depend on the character: use the ones you find are good, or that damage the other player the most often. There are some really good low-cost spellcards (Patchy's 2-cost machine-gear reversal, Meiling's 2-cost whirlwind reversal, Alice's 1-cost Artful Sacrifice), and there are some really good high cost cards as well (Yukari's train is painful after a limit/counter-hit 66C, Meiling's Great Roc's Assault Fist, Tenshi's 5-cost DP).

Skill-card maxing is also a preference. It usually increases damage or adds some sort of utility to the skill, so if you find that you really rely on the skill, it can't hurt to give it the levels. For example, if you get Meiling's Sky Dragon Kick alt skill up to level 3, you recover much faster if the opponent blocks it, allowing you to peg them with a j.5A or j.2A that they probably won't expect.

For everything else, just read the wiki and practice. Good luck.

>For decks, do you go ahead and max out your skills or do you not need them? I believe they make the skills a tad stronger, and become more useful/longer, but will maxing it out make a difference?

it depends on the character and your playstyle. Don't put cards into skills that TO YOU seem nearly useless or too situational. don't put cards into skills that you don't use.
It is a very good idea to get 4 cards of the skill you want to improve/add. This allows you to learn the skill, and still be able to use 1-2 (*if needed) for fodder to spell cards. It's also generally a bad idea to get more than 3 different skills through cards, as you can't exactly rely on being able to get all 3 skills within 2 matches, and not all matches go to the final round.

>Also for spell cards, do you abuse the low costing cards or use only the high level cards? how many should i carry? any way to force others into it without that fucking blocking?

There are several ways of doing this, none of them are correct. it's all personal preference. You can have 4 decks stored for each character, and the way you set up the deck will make the play style for each character different. set up the deck to compliment how you want to play the character (keeping in mind the overall play style for that character)
two notes though: if you make a deck with a ton of fivers, you will *NEED* to get 4 spell card gen. system cards, and avoid getting more than 2-3 different skill cards.

>> No.4068436

>>4068430 cont.
>Also for them red cards which i still cant understand what most of them do, should i even bother having in the deck?

A.) go to the wiki and read up on it like a bitch.
B.) go to practice, make a deck of 20 system cards, and work it out/memorize them like a man.

>Lastly do I have to learn them linking combos and abuse it like hell? All I know is do the normal combo and wall bounce them and then pull the spell card.

most 5aaa will work as a default combo, and the final hits of 90%+ of them can cancel into a spell card.
The best advice I can give is to
A.) go to the wiki like a bitch
B.) go to practice mode and work out one or more combos for said character.

Good games, E-MAN. Gosh, playing Meiling without Sky Dragon Kick is like trying to play with only one hand for me. I seriously feel crippled when I don't have that glorious flying kick available to me; though, I will admit, I like the feeling of the alt 214C in the corner. It seems as though I could stagger melee, switch in a few bullets, and then catch the high jumpers with a counter-hit, stuffing them back into the corner with 2000 less health.

Your Meiling plays...strange, though. I'm not sure how to put it, but it just feels odd. Maybe it's the lack of complete in-your-face rushing or what, but she just seems a bit reserved. Still good, but it feels sorta soft for some reason. Your Sanae is surprisingly good, though, using the wind to peg that pack of talismans into my face was pretty damn amusing. As usual, the Sakuya matches were quite entertaining; well, Sakuya in general is a lot of fun for me right now.

Good games, Resident, you've gotten better since the last time we fought. When your Suika and you land a j.5A, try to follow it up with a j.6A -> j.6B. >> No.4075930

>>4075889
>guess she isn't used much?

Hahahahahaha. Suika gets used quite often, actually, she's just an incredibly solid character with hardly any weaknesses. Her 66C, against some characters, is absolutely unpunishable and has absurd graze frames, her projectiles range from incredibly fast and damaging to zone-controlling, and her air-to-air has some really nice priority. Combine that with damaging spell cards and a bit of weather control (typhoon = you win), and you have a fearsome opponent.

Marisa is more of a rushdown character, while Sakuya can be either very aggressive or more of a character that sits back and forces her opponent to make mistakes, which she then capitalizes on. Or, at least, that's my interpretation of her.

>>4075268

I didn't realize she was more common... To be honest I have only fought maybe one or two other people from these threads that used her more than once. I do like the fact that she has a bunch of damaging cards, but my problem there is either a) I cannot remember what the card does or b) Mistake it for another card, and catch hell for it wasting other potentially useful cards. I do like playing as her though, so maybe I should just main her then.

Marisa though. Against you I did nothing with her. But against some I annihilate them with her even if they have been destroying me otherwise. Guess it comes down to other factors, but generally with her, I have the highest win rate.

Sakuya I have always liked, and I agree with your analysis of her. I want to get better with her regardless of who I main.

Also I forgot to mention Reisen. I seem to be as hit or miss with her as I am with Sakuya. Again, another character I would like to learn regardless.

And also I need to rework my decks, as I have acquired hundreds of new cards over the past week or so from online and single player modes and just haven't reworked them. Not that that will make a whole hell of a difference if I cannot get the game mechanics down but... It helps me sleep better at night lol.

I'd just played Yukari and Patchy against Cooking so I was moving down the list. You should try using the stompwave sometime. While I know you love that kick you can stick 623 in for the same damage for combos, but stompwave gives China something to follow 5C or 6C with at distance to force the enemy to jump or be pressured. If they block in the air you can kick them back towards it, which can set up a bounce and a grounded with f.5a or 6A (though 6A is hard to use.) You can even charge it to kick waves in both directions, good oki against rolling either way.

I've actually messed around with Meiling's default 623, but for some reason I'm just horrible with the execution. I need far more practice with it, but maybe I'll put it in the deck with the tremor wave card just to see how opponents react. Earlier today I was actually messing around with the Descending Flower Slam, getting the opponent down to low orbs in the corner and then anticipating the jump out with 214C. It worked pretty well; sometimes it just caught them on the ground but they were pressured enough that they blocked it instead of dashing out, and didn't seem to be able to punish me afterwards, allowing me to reset pressure. There's still plenty of things I haven't really put to the test with Meiling, but you're right, I really love that kick. It's a great combo finisher, it goes along perfectly with her C bullets and most of her B, and if you catch a counter-hit with it you're guaranteed anywhere from 2k-3k damage with an incredibly easy combo.

Anyways, is anyone that's pretty good with Alice here? I'm trying to figure out a good way to pressure with her in the corner, but I'm really coming up with nothing, other than baiting them forward into a CH 6A.

>> No.4077877

>>4077850
Alice has no pressure game in the corner after her nerfs in Soku. The only complete crushstring she has requires you use the seeker dolls spellcard after forcing 2 blocked C dolls. It's most effective as a crush oki, throw two C dolls then 66A the opponent's wakeup and start seeker dolls.

If I were a better player, I'd be able to punish you after predicting when you're going to do them (normally if you're backing up a 66C will follow, and if you're moving back and forth or doing a 5C, an ice car will follow). Good games anon, you're a great player. Give me some of your skill, please.

Also this was my face during the Suika mirrors.

There are four types of moves. Weak moves that rarely hurt you, weak moves that can hurt a lot, strong moves that rarely hurt, and strong moves that hurt a lot. You want to find out which moves are the strongest and have the lowest chance of back firing, and use them a lot. Only use the risky moves when you KNOW they will hit.

Good games annonymous. You are pretty hard. How do you do flight? I seem to only know how to dash. I love your patchouli. It is very strong :v

Good games.
You fly by holding D while pressing a direction in the air. Though you were doing quite well without it. Too well.

Thank you, now I'm feeling terrible. I have to get used to this game again... excuses, I know.
BUT THAT WAS A DOUBLE KO AGAINST SAKUYA, WHY DID YOU GET THE POINT?! Now I'm feeling even more terrible!

It was fun, I'm more tired than I thought. Thanks for joining

Good games, nameless person.
Those were fun, but a little defence goes a long way.

Thanks for the games. Your Yuyuko 66c too much. It's not that great to depend on it a lot. You may have came here to win, but I'm here to look for a nice match without all that. Nice Koma and Reisen though.

That was pretty fun, and I hope you had fun too.

Good games.
You should probably get those 5Cs out of you corner string, as I don't see how that helps you in any way. (And I should stop teching down all the time of course)
Otherwise, fun as ever.

I have a few bad habits that I tend to show all the time, like doing 2B in the middle of nowhere. (For instance, when I've knocked you down)
I think it's about time I start using characters other than Komachi as well.
Anyways, good games and thanks for the advice.
