It doesn't really matter if the script was 100% done or 80% done considering the kiminozo LE script is over 4mb large versus the MLA script being 2.8mb so the decision to start over from scratch instead of working off a script written by a guy you have already been working with for years is entirely fucking insane. Alright I will be honest and say I would like to vent its just on the industry overall not VN and Anime(despite the rare occurrences with weird slang) they do a better job and care at least that's how I see it everyone here calls things out and corrects each other and listens or at times explains things as to why they did what they did and there is healthy debate or backlash at the very least to keep things from being too off the rails in terms of translation.

Also I understand that Translators have a visceral hatred for the types that get mad over everything stupid, that absolutely reasonable. But seeing things I like being skirted around indirect because the translator feels uncomfortable does no one justice especially the Authors work. It's sad to see this being common nowadays or people inserting what they think something should be than what it is. I do not mind if it's not perfect 100% translation like the rest because you and I both know they do not know Japanese to English is not simple some people are just mediocre but I know it's not easy so I tend to forgive that. But I just think it's better to get closer to their mind and their work than it is to back away or pretend certain things did not exist or dilute the work when the author talks about certain things. Such as the Trans stuff in Yakuza or rape in a Light Novel, the mythical thinking that a crossdresser is transgender whether male being female or female being male unless they say so, sex slaves etc. Maybe it might be for Western sensibilities because of the timeline of today and Social media. But I am asking Is that not the same thing as censoring gay and lesbian couples 20 years ago? Censoring Blood and death? The cross? It's odd it seems like we made so much progress two giant steps forward but then everything is going backwards. Just my thoughts honestly.

What I don't get is why you're bringing up this stuff here. Like you said it's mostly and Anime/LN/Manga/Video Game thing. I don't think I could name a single VN where the translation has been maliciously tampered with to fit in with western "woke" culture, if I'm wrong feel free to give me and example. I don't like things getting unnecessarily changed in VNs either and bad localizations have made me drop VNs before, but the anti-censorship crowd are some of the most obnoxious and retarded people I've ever had the displeasure of talking to. Most of them don't even read VNs and half of the time they're getting mad at something that wasn't even the localization companies fault or doing (Most recent example being Doukyuusei. I saw countless posts blaming Shiravune for the censorship just because the person who wrote the original description on vndb didn't make it clear that the changes done to the new remake were actually changes made way back in 1999 by the original developers for the original windows remake of the game, something any fan of the game would know).

Sure we have the goofball jokes but I do not think there are translators here who will get mad if you point out an error or something that was completely out of character or tell them they did something wrong with dialogue, we have had this before where things were fixed and changed. Rance 4 has a fan translated windows version. It should work with Windows 10 or 11, probably. I very much doubt AS will ever do Rance 04.

I will say on one hand I have defended them a little too much because I always get this feeling that Rance being a gameplay visual novel and it having tons of text to go through is painful. So much so they seem to have a all hands on deck situation right now.

But on the other I have been disappointed with certain selections lately. In my mind I kind of was hoping for Lollicon, Siscon or some interesting plotge VN. Maybe later this year they will have something ready.
