Hey /jp/, a question for those of you that have attempted in one way or another to hide your powerlevels from your real-life acquaintances and whatnot. What do you do when someone asks you about your hobbies and whatnot? I mean, I spend the majority of my free time watching anime or reading VNs these days (the latter much moreso than the former lately, I tend to mostly just watch anime as a break from whatever VN I am reading, though it can vary depending on my mood) and I really don't feel like explaining either of those to whatever normalfag may be asking at the time. They probably don't even know what a VN is, and saying I spend a good portion of my time watching anime probably would not really have a very good connotation. So what do you do in such situations? Do you just make shit up?

You're new. Welcome to /jp/.

I hold up the book I'm reading. This also prevents most conversation.

things wrong with this are...
1. you have "normal friends"
2. you care what these friends think
3. you used cirno for something this useless and must die

I'm not really so worried about normal friends, they don't really ask such questions very much. It's more, when I am introduced to their friends, or am talking to someone I don't know very well.

I have loads of hobbies apart of anime, but I spend a very little time for all of them, and most of them are computer related (And I don't want to look like a computer geek either), so I just say "I like usual things, watching TV, drawing, music..."

Just say common things, nobody will ask about common things and you'll avoid the conversation. Then counter-attack with a simple "What about you?", and you're done.

I play a lot of the usual games too, so I just hide behind that persona.

Aside from /jp/ stuff I'm also very big into politics and /x/. I recently when hunting for ghost towns to take pictures. So when people ask me about hobbies, I usually refer to photography.

One time though.. One of my co-workers and I went to California for training, I asked to stop at the Mac store to get my macbook's battery replaced. The shitslammer that was helping me out in the store decided to turn on my macbook while I was looking at iPhone accessories, needless to say him and my co-worker got an eye full of my desktop.

Pic related, I had the one of Sakuya as my wallpaper (by the artist who did this).

My co-worker doesn't treat me the same anymore.

I´ve been hiding the fact that I watch anime, read manga and shit like that for the whole time (around 5 years). I´ve only told my closest friends, and family members if they´ve asked. Ever since I switched schools I haven´t had the balls to tell anyone about my hobbies. Why? Because where I´m from, people are so ignorant about everything, especially anime. I have a few classmates who told everyone they watch anime, and now they´re ignored and/or fucked with. I´m glad I´ve kept my hobbies to myself.
