This is my take on it.

Red Truth can be used to deceive right? You can't lie with it, but you can manipulate people with it and lead them to wrong conclusions.

Maybe the Gold Truth is something that cannot be used in such a way. It cannot be used to deceive or lead people astray. It can only state what is true, and can only be used when the intention is not deception.

It's truth with no drawbacks or loopholes.

Assuming it can't be used to deceive, that just means it's free fucking information for the human side! It can't be used to mindrape, or manipulate! It's Truth. What if someone asks a witch, Repeat in Gold! And she does. That right there is like giving the human side a big fucking gun and painting a bullseye on your chest.

That's why witches don't use it much and consider it inferior. It absolutely cannot be used against the Human side.

Considering everything, the game is screwed up and tilted harshly to the Human side. Even if the witch refuses to use Red, the Blue Truth forces them to do so (which is, you know, it's original purpose.). Then the human side gets some precious precious red information to formulate something new. The only danger is that the witch is screwing with him, but that can be dealt with. What if the Human side gains a new weapon? Forcing the witch's side to use Gold? Game over man.

The catastrophe is, as many theories suggest, an unexploded WW2 bomb. Kinzo moved to Rokkenjima because the insane risk of living on top of something that could wipe out everything at any time is the perfect source of power for his risk-based magic.

The odds of the bomb actually exploding are very low. This door opens only at a probability of a quadrillion to one.

If the bomb does explode, you're unlikely to survive. You will be saved only at a probability of a quadrillion to one.

But at midnight on the second day of the family conference, it does explode. Whilst this could be a coincidence, the letters and the money prepared for family members indicate that someone set it up in advance. That "someone" knew that no-one would survive the conference - unless they solved the epitaph, found the underground chamber and were able to ignore the gold long enough to find the "Golden Witch" that will leave no-one alive.

So the answer to meta-Beatrice's riddle of "who am I" probably isn't the catastrophe itself; instead, it's the person who set the bomb to explode and sent the letters, warning the family to solve the epitaph lest everything be taken from them. Even though that person is dead at the end of EP4, it is unquestionably by their hand that Battler is killed.

From a more metaphysical point of view, the person who primed the bomb has created a closed world. Whatever happens in the two days of the family conference, the world outside can never know; the braun tube is in smithereens, so you'll never know if there were little people in it or not. This is why truth within this world is so fluid, and it's why Beatrice can exist as a witch within it. It's coming dangerously close to a fantasy explanation, but perhaps the reason "Beatrice" set the bomb was precisely to create such a world.

You're taking Red too lightly though, it's truth and is to be believed fully but it is subjective. It's already a large foothold for the human side when used.

The problem is, Dlanor and the rest in the Court of Illusions declared and confirmed Battler couldn't use the Red, even being the Sorcerer because it violated Knox's 2nd, even not being the detective, he must comply if he's anti-fantasy.
However, Golden Truth went right through, worked and was accepted.
It's not about Golden being more true than Red. Dlanor knew and accepted Battler's statement as true, but to be against Fantasy, it would have to be explained through human means.

Well, personally, I don't mind the thought that the last few that make it to the end are killed by a bomb set by the true culprit. Actually, this would be a really great way for them to fake their own death along with everyone else's, and get away with it. However, the thought that EVERYONE is killed by a bomb is just stupid. Especially one set by Kinzo two years prior. Does it not occur to you how meaningless that would make every single episode before this was announced? And it's just... Boring...

Also, once again, Nanjo was stated in red to be killed directly by a person right in front of him, with a weapon. And Beato denies in red on multiple occasions that people were killed by a trap, or a delayed mechanism or whatever.

Okay, all of you saying that a bomb isn't much better than brain parasites is an idiot. As early as episode 2 I figured that there was a fire in the mansion, probably started in the boiler room that killed battler and that the demons eating him was a metaphor for that. I figured Rosa and Maria were running from this fire as well. Episode 3 didn't really lend anything to this idea but when in episode 4 it was clear the mansion didn't exist and that something had to kill battler at midnight a fire doesn't really make much sense since Battler isn't seen running from the mansion. A bomb or explosion in the boiler room due to gas made sense as early as ep 2, even 1. It makes sense and it clear up a lot of things with the story, someone even linked it to the epitaph. If you're still complaining about it being a 'bummer' maybe you should feel bad about not seeing the pieces coming together before it was spoiled for you by other people.

We know the killings are not being done for the sake of revenge, or to try to terrorize Battler. What if someone knew about the bomb, knew what was going to happen with it, and possibly even knew where it was, but could do nothing to actually get to it themselves?

If the Epitaph leads not just to the gold, but to the bomb that could kill everyone on the island, then whether or not everyone dies depends on their ability to solve it and find the bomb before it was too late. Considering NOT solving the Epitaph, and thus not finding the bomb, will result in everyone dying anyway, someone might reason that it was better to kill a few people to motivate the rest to solve the Epitaph so that at least they'll survive, rather than do nothing and doom everyone to die regardless.

The idea is Rokkenjima use to be a war base and the bomb was kept underground with the gold. Kinzo left it there because he liked the risk or he didn't even know about it.

However, somebody finds it (most likely the culprit) and rigs it to explode on October 6th 00:00. The only way to defuse it however is to have the code itself and find the bomb. The code is 07151129, which is put up in EP 3.

If the bomb theory is credible then I wouldn't be surprised if Kyrie was involved.
