Best theory I've heard today about Ep5:

The entire thing is a murder mystery game setup for Erika, like with Haruhi in the "closed circle" island trip. [Almost] everyone is in it to fool Erika, which is how the knock works: everyone simply lied, since it was never said in red text that the knock actually happened.

Everything in the episode makes sense if we simply assume that this was a setup.

There's another theory that battler is actually high on drugs while there and is the real killer.

Well, it makes sense. Erika and Haruhi are both Mary Sues.

Well it certainly is an act for someone, perhaps a ploy to expose Natsuhi's secret. The mastermind whoever they are is almost certainly in on it and takes advantage of it to do the murders.

Basically it's the only way that any of it makes any sense.

We know that the wounds were basically impossible to mistake: it would be total bullshit if R07 came back and claimed they were still alive at the time. It makes more sense if the wounds weren't even faked at all; they were just lied about.

If not, this makes even more sense.

No and no. She never became aware of anyone in the room with Hideyoshi either. And she clearly heard Hideyoshi locking himself in.
