Merry Christmas, everyone! We couldn't really make this release coincinde with Christmas. That being said, we are happy to announce that we can once again fulfill our promise.

Anyway, without much ado:

Witch Hunt is proud to announce that the new patch for Umineko no Naku Koro ni Chiru is available!
The new patch completely covers Episode 5, End of the golden witch. You can get it with the following links (mediafire, Rapidshare as a mirror link):

Please be sure to check the NEW readme file as some specific points must be taken in account for the full use of the patch (some updated points for Chiru).

Note that due to circumstances that weren't under our control, we decided to postpone the grimoire document for this release. We will certainly add these for our update of Episode 5 along with a compatible version for Episode 6. Thank you for your understanding.

In case you missed it, there was a problem with the installer for the original game of EP5. This only affects Vista users and possibly Windows 7 users.
As a result of this bug, 4 BGM files must be copied to the BGM folder manually after the installation of the Japanese game is complete:
黄金の影修正版（ラック眼力）.ogg
隣死　mu.ogg
誘い.ogg
螺旋_Choir.ogg

If you want to be on the safe side, just copy the entire BGM folder and choose not to replace anything that's already there.

So where can I find or download that said BGMs? I'm using Vista.

FOR THOSE ANONS GETTING ERRORS EVEN WHEN THE JAPANESE VERION WORKS:
Uninstall the game and reinstall it. Now, instead of copying the contents of the [WH] patch folder into the game folder, COPY THE ENTIRE FOLDER. Now go into the folder you just copied and run the onscripter file. It should work now. If you are having problems with this there is an image file in the patch folder that explains how to do this in more detail.

HOW TO INSTALL UMINEKO ON WINDOWS XP WITHOUT HAVING TO SWITCH SYSTEM LOCALE IN TEN EASY STEPS (Assuming you're not an idiot)

Step 0: I hope you have eastern language support installed. You probably do.
Step 1: Put your disc in or mount your ISO
Step 2: DO NOT USE THE GODDAMN INSTALLER. It sucks.
Step 3: Make a folder on your hard drive. Anywhere will do. On your desktop, in Program Files, whatever.
Step 4: Select everything on the disc by hitting Ctrl+A and drag it across to the folder you made in step 3.
Step 5: Once copied, open the fullsrc folder inside the folder you made and select everything with Ctrl+A. Then press Ctrl+X to cut it (will make the icons kinda transparent)
Step 6: Go back to the original folder you made (back in step 3) that now has all the other folders in it and paste the files in using Ctrl+V
Step 7: You now have a FULLY FUNCTIONING japanese install of Umineko
Step 8: Download and extract the witch-hunt patch
Step 9: Put the patch folder inside the folder you made back in step 3. Do not take the stuff out of it. If it asks you to overwrite anything, you've made a mistake.
Step 10: Run onscripter-en in the patch folder.

No locale switching, no system-wide graphical glitches. Easy. If you're using Vista or 7, these steps will work for you too, but you'll need to run onscripter-en using a japanese locale. AppLocale will work fine for that.
