"Being the holidays" isn't an excuse for the quality of /jp/ since there is ALWAYS something (time off, release, event, controversy etc...) that affects the quality of the board.

All we are doing when we blame something is bullshitting ourselves as to believing that /jp/'s overall userbase has not become this bad.

Sure, there's always something, but you do have to admit that the holidays increase the level of shit over the normal background level.
Just a random guess here, but I'd say that thread quality is better when the older crowd with at least 6 years of experience in VNs, Touhou, loli, etc hold the majority.

/jp/ should be hidden from the front page, side bar, and links at the top. The only people who frequent /jp/ have it saved to their bookmarks anyway.
