That's a relatively uncommon protagonist. Most of the time he has a crush on a girl, who also has a crush on him, but they're too shy to ask each other out. In the process of pursuing her, he bumps into other girls, and since he's not as nervous around them he acts more naturally and since he's naturally a good guy, he makes a good impression.

I mean, there are exceptions, but the fact that he can act relatively normally is a plus when every other guy in school (or the world, perhaps) treats most heroines like they're goddesses.
