Hey, what was the early western fandom of Touhou like (I am talking around 2004-early 2006)

Maidens of the Kaleidoscope had an IRC channel from May 2004, so like obviously it did exist back then, and I highly doubt there is an archive of an IRC chatroom from almost 18 years ago, so I can't really find that out by myself.

I learned of it's existence when I was 13 or 14 starting to use imageboards. I wasn't interested then, as I thought it was a boring yuri manga series for a long time, didn't care to check it out. Then I tried the games eventually for some reason I don't recall and they were pretty fun.
