Otome gachas seem to be becoming more abundant now but the regular VN otome games still seem to be the main source for good content. Personally I like that you can just buy a completed story with all the LI available but I've seen people who like gachas because they get new content a lot. Any thoughts on these?

I've tried a few but most are disappointing in one way or another and there's rarely enough voiced content. I much prefer VNs since like you said, you get a full experience in one go.
Yumekuro is the best one I've tried recently. Main story and events are voiced and you get around an hour of voiced story and 2 cgs with every unit.

Gacha is shit because it never ends, there is no conclusive ending. Shit is always retconned. You have to grind for days or weeks for content that can be read in minutes. I like that Stand My Heroes despite being kind of retarded is f2p friendly and has romantic routes for each guy with proper progression and ending. The one plus of smartphone otome is that even after becoming a couple you can continue to get stories of how they are in their relationship, which you don't really get in console games if they don't have fandisks. But a lot of these games don't even get that far, or force you to keep grinding for breadcrumbs. Can't keep up with Star Orchestra because of it, guys are nice but it's too tiring.

Also like pic related, it's Phoenix Wright lite, events are laid back but have a lot of effort put into them.

I love those intentional combos. There are seiyuu that you'll always find together in a series. Although Miyano doesn't do BL, he was in some shounen ai together with OnoD back then. UraBoku managed to get some BASED seiyuu. I'm not sure, but it seems like it had a game too.

They're copying a popular setting, just like those revenge rebirth stories with the heroine being betrayed by her cheating fiance by her sister/cousin/whichever female relative in ancient china/korea/whatever country. Most of them started out as a webnovel before they were adapted in comic form, and because of the massive amount of chapters, it's an easy way for scanlating groups to make mad dosh/views from it.

I'm also sick of seeing these because of their subpar quality, and the overuse of the stupidity and misunderstandings of the characters just to extend the story.

I've seen the synopsis of live dramas, webnovels, and webtoons with the basic premise of contractual relationship more in Korean works. I don't think I've ever seen MC-chan not hooking up with the guy she forms a contract with, and once they fall in love or whatever, she suddenly becomes a stupid damsel in distress that needs rescuing by the 'ML'.

The only satisfying revenge contract relationship I've seen in Korean was on Beyond Eden's 'good ending' with the butler, Theodore. It was pretty interesting since Theodore's a crazy obsessive yandere, and while Alex succeeded in his revenge, he drove away his good friend/potential lover Laurence in exchange.

I actually know of something that answers both of these, the Letta games where the main love interest is a vampire boy prostitute (施薬僧のレタ if you actually want to find it, since I doubt the name is listed in english anywhere). You make medicines to complete quests for villagers and unlock events and ero scenes. Warning that it's probably not for everyone, off the top of my head you have to make the vampire boy whore himself out to a man to unlock one of the events, vampire boy is a huge yandere, and the other guys only have bad ends. . But I think you can avoid these scenes as long as you don't care about 100%ing it.

I started playing Rune factory 5. While the graphics are kinda bland and there's weird performance issues, I still find the core gameplay loop addictive enough to look past the jank.

I guess if you assume Juurou's mom is a clone of Yomi then he's genetically speaking Juurou's father. It's actually pretty enjoyable with all those lovely SMT references once you get out of the grinding hell stage. You want inflict every status effect pinning down your enemies while your demons/human allies destroy them? You can. Summon your demon allies by kissing your ring? Doable. Tame a powerful demon through tense negotiations, capture their heart, and then only bring them out whenever you're window shopping? Can. Show-off as a male glasses wearing bunny butler while skipping and holding hands with the monstrous Alice or travel the land being princess carried by Cu Chulainn? Why not? Go to the beach dungeon wearing nothing but speedos with your buddy-buds? Been there, done that.

I survived purely as a f2p just by farming mats and p2w peeps focused on their pvp rankings. Guilds are comfy af, and the game forums were very active. We thought it would last forever, but of course normal mmorpgs have a finite lifespan. There's also a gacha SMT, but I think only long time player masochists with deep pockets play that as it's become nothing more than bait for whales.

Anyway, Yamato's route in Devil Survivor 2 was fun too. It kinda made him crazier in the anime adaptation and it didn't help that Suwabe voiced him. There's also something about his connection with Alcor voiced by Sakurai, but it's better to play the game because of how much they squeezed game contents into 13 episodes. They have a good voice cast, memorable OP/ED, but it got ruined through cutting off contents.

The Avatar Tuners novels are the one with the gay sex, iirc Serph original was straight up in love with Heat original and tried to fuck him. It's fairly different from the games tho and Atlus had little to do with it.

Your butt and hands will grow numb from grinding. Unless you have the shop teleport item, you're looking at least 30 minutes travelling time between point A to B. It's faster with a mount, but the mount ring durability drops with each use. Low level demons like Inugami will love mobbing you so the newbie zone has an area called Inugami Hell.

Sometimes you'll get unlucky enough to meet with an area boss respawn that will keep chasing you. If you're not familiar with an enemy weakness, you might reflect yourself to death, your exp will go down, and your equipment durability drop. If your demon ally also dies, their affection will get lowered too. You need careful calculation which demon skills to get and sacrifice because you have limited space for your demon storage and summons. Your alignment matters because if your favorite demon is chaos aligned, they'll cost way more magnetite to summon as a lawfag even if it's just a little weak Poltergeist. Powerful demons are locked behind super rare drop items and triple fusion which cost a load of dosh. Finally, if you don't know what you're doing with your skills and just upgrade them willy-nilly, you'll end up useless in battle. Unfortunately, the old forums got wiped with all those helpful guides. You can try looking for JP guides, but I don't know how active the private server still is.
