So there was a best translated VN of the year thread, what about untranslated?
Personally I really loved Kitto, Sumiwataru Asairo Yori mo,.
I know that it got quite a lot of hate in Japan because it was very straightforward with very few sex scenes and only one real love interest but I really loved the story and mood of that game.

Definately Baldr Sky, well atleast for me as it has claimed my favorite VN ever title for me.

But generally this year has been really good eroge year. I'd say that the top spot would go for either one of these:
Baldr Sky
Muramasa
Steins;Gate
Mugen Kairou 2 (well this is more of an love it or hate it deal, so don't know should it be considered)

Also other great titles that came out this year are probably Oretsubasa, Majikoi, Kitto Sumiwataru Asairo Yori mo (but as you said it has some hate due to it), Tapestry. Altough these are great but they quite haven't had as good reception as the four before.

Actually there is a lot of pretty good eroge released this year:
Hateshinaku Kono Aoi Sora no Shitade (remake of a 2000 title with voice added)
Atori no Sora to Shinchuu no Tsuki (sequel of Hateshinaku)
Playing them one after the other was awesome, really worth playing.

Natsuyume Nagisa. Much better than you would expect at first.

Himegari Dungeon Meister, Eushully doing it right.

Tenkuu no Yumina. It's no Eien no Aselia but it's pretty enjoyable.

Haven't even heard of the two first, adding them to my extremely long backlog. Well those others are great tough or should be as so is how I have heard. Altough I tend to forget Himegari when I think this year, as it's more of an gameplay focused altough the story is nice too.

But yeah great year was great year for eroges.

It's a good story, really different from the generic high school romance shit usually thrown at you, and the drama is actually real drama not people overreacting over stupid things.
Mostly it made me rage at the heroines and feel pity for the protagonist, imho when a VN manages to actually make you feel something towards the characters it means it's well done.

Great writing, awesome dialogs and character interactions in general.
Also great and huge cast, all of them actually being extremely well characterized.
And the main characters are fucking awesome.

It's not perfect, for example Asuka was an awesome character with a personality you don't see often in eroge, but her route was far too short.
Also no route for Ai, she was basically a main heroine except they fucking cockblock you.
And the sex scenes were kinda shitty, though the first one of Naru was pretty funny, Yuko Gotou is too good.
