I think Nihongogo is working on Shukan as well, I saw that some of the scripts are already available on the downloads section but they haven't made them public yet.
I guess it all depends on how long it'll take for them to snap back from their bouts of laziness and how many butt jokes they can cram into an episode summary before calling it a wrap (seriously, last time I checked there's over a month worth of episodes still in queue and they won't release them until someone gives them a witty write-up).

Well there are other AKB48 forums out there, but I do think it would make sense to make that stuff public if they value the group above their own board. The more fans, the better, regardless of whether they post on Nihongogo or not.

I agree with you on this, they got themselves into a catch-22 situation by deciding not to make most of their subs publicly available. To broaden the fanbase there need to be some easily accessible material for the neophytes, but in order to get it you must spend time posting on the forum before being granted access even though you know very little about the subject.
With that said, I understand there's a reason behind this behavior.
Stage48 does the same, but it's because their private section is stocked with Live On Demand videos, whose free distribution is supposedly prohibited.
