I hear Touhou has a deep story.

Could someone help me out and give me the short explanation of the story for each game.

>> No.3948580

An unnamed giant catfish starts a series of incidents in order to test the legend of a dynamic, sexy, dilligent, attentive, kind, loving and powerful gate guard.

These are her stories.

>> No.3948691

Touhou 6: A little vampire girl coverts all of Gensokyo in red mist so she can go out during day without parasol. Local shrine-maiden Reimu and Marisa the witch puts a stop to this.
Touhou 7: Ghost who happens to be the princess of netherworld sends her gardener to gather spring to make the largest tree in her garden to bloom. This results in Spring never coming to rest of Gensokyo, Reimu, Marisa and the maid of vampire in last game, Sakuya go to investigate. The princess of Netherworld doesn't know that the tree in actuality is youkai, and that her original body inside it keeps it sealed away.
Touhou 8: A moon rabbit escapes war to Gensokyo, and Lunarians residing there start an endless night to hide her. These Lunarians were also cast away from moon due to pharmacist making immortality potion and princess drinking it, to Lunarians this was heresy.
...Even though this matter would be solved in time, the major characters from last three games go to put a stop to this.
Touhou 9: Due to local Grim Reaper not doing her job, there's lots of flowers and souls everywhere. Even though this is not problem at all, lots of people start shooting random fairies and eventually face the judge of Netherworld, Shikieiki Yamaxanadu. She tells her impression about various heroines and fighting commences.
Touhou 10: New shrine appeared in Gensokyo from outside world. Its shrine maiden Sanae visited Reimu's shrine and told her to put stop to it, but Reimu will have none of that, so she and Marisa visit youkai mountain to put stop to that tomfoolery.
...After that it gets kinda menial.

Just a small correction on TH8: The lunarians stole the moon and replaced it with a fake one. It was the heroines that started the eternal night.

I'm still hazy on exactly how one steals the moon, and how that keeps lunarians, that are on the moon, from reaching them...

Eirin didn't steal the moon, she sealed up Earth and put up a convincing disguise of the night sky to fool those within.

I don't know why Lunarians wouldn't figure something's amiss when their fucking planet vanishes. Maybe she put a disguise there too.

It is part true.

Touhou 9: Shit hits the fan every 60 years in Gensokyo underworld and it's that time of the sexagenary cycle again. The grim reaper couldn't give less of a shit and neither could the heroines, but all parties pick up ghostbusting anyway as an excuse to beat each other up senseless.

I like that explanation, but the game always refers to it as a theft, and the final boss fights are in rooms containing the fake/real moon... Unless theft is just one huge extended metaphor, and holograms, etc....

But yeah, maybe I'm just trying to make sense of something that has none.

This is mostly correct; Eirin needed much time to complete the spell that would seal the Earth from the Lunarians on the moon. It wouldn't matter if the Lunarians noticed she was doing it or not, once it was complete there would be no travel from the Earth to the moon and vice versa. The false full moon was a distraction for the powers(i.e. Reimu and Marisa) that Eirin knew could dent her plans, and to keep mundane people oblivious. She didn't expect that Yukari and Reimu could freeze the night entirely, though that worked in Eirin's favor anyway.

For PoFV, every 60 years there is soul overflow in the New Hell, Higan. The last was WWII, though I don't think they explain why there is overflow for the current phenomenon. The number of souls backing up causes flowers to bloom where they shouldn't, which isn't much a problem in itself. If Komachi went into overtime and reaped the hell out of all these souls, the problem would have been resolved, but Yuka and the other heroines taking interest just pushed it along faster.
