I started learning Japanese a little over two months ago and I feel like I haven't made much progress - I follow the MoeWay guide.

I finished the Tae Kim grammar guide and am currently reviewing it, and I've been doing Anki (The MoeWay Tango N5) flashcards for a little under a month. However, whenever I go online and attempt to read random japanese stuff, it's almost impossible for me save for super simple sentences.

Is there anything else I should be doing?

P.S. I'm also a university student so I don't have a ton of time to spend on learning Japanese every day.

When it comes to learning languages the beginning is always slow. As you learn more and more it starts getting faster and faster. Remember last thread about the anon who said he only learned 50 kanji and is seeing them everywhere? It's kind of like that. The more you learn the less you need to look at a reference. I've been using the "moeway" guide for a while and IMO its not worth it , its not a good guide it isn't written well and requires too much effort for no good reason. It's more than a Jap learning method more like Mehmet's (shoui's) lifestyle choices he's forcing onto you IMO. Nope.
When learning a new script, that's how it goes.
You read fast in your native language/script because you don't *actually* read most characters; You just kinda see the lenght/shape of the word, the starting letter, the context in the phrase, and like that you quickly recognize each and every word, like you would a face in the crowd.
With a new script, you need to do that from scratch, so you'll need to spend the next many hundreds hours just slowly getting used to new words until you can easily recognize them like faces.
Time sink is literally the only way.

you can't really use it to learn anything perse, theres some research on this, but if you say, read something, mine it (make a card out of it), and review the card, you are less likely to forget it.
as theres some 3k kanji plus you need to know at the very least, its very helpful.

but understanding why it is the way it is makes it much easier to grasp even more concepts in the grammar and thus makes "feeling it out" even more intuitive because you can make connections why which components are present and especially for new learners it'll save time rather than trying to draw connections between only the pieces present in the particular statement

Should I try playing something like Pokémon or Yo-Kai Watch in Japanese?
