Thread dedicated to the archival and preservation of Touhou Fangames

tl;dr: some twitterite is snitching and getting fangames taken down from Moriyashrine.

In response we are compiling all known touhou fangames into a giant torrent.

Yeah, he's an ass, but I agree our number one priority should be preservation. Focus on preserving the shrine works first. However, I'm concerned that people like him aren't going to stop at fangames and might go after other Touhou works like the doujins. It might be a good idea to back those up as well.

I have a small collection of doujin games unpacked, and dozens more from various comiket releases across /jp/ from the last decade.
I also have a few clean .isos of the original games.

My upload speed is very slow so in the case of these being unable to be found somewhere i'll provide eventually.

350 fangames in here. I'm an archive autist, have been archiving 2hushit for about 5+ years now, most of the fangames I've played came from doujingravity. I do remember some japanese-only sites I found when I was trying to find more obscure fangames, but I'm not sure I can find that anymore.
If I have time, I might help with this project, would fit with my autism. I'm the same guy that archived the Touhou Opera livestream thing a while back, hopefully I can do some magic here too.

After the fairies "die", they fall towards you. If you keep shooting them at that point, they'll blow up, but if you don't shoot them, you can touch them to eat them, which increases your meter. Your meter is reduced over time or by taking damage.
Fill your meter to enter rainbow mode, empty your meter to die.
I don't fully understand the system myself, but that's the gist of it.

BTW, I'm doubtful on whether or not send the FMW files later on like they are on Moriya (plus the /v/ patch for FMW4), or send them prepatched.
In the case of FMW2, I've heard of some people having issues with the final boss, which can cause the game to softlock, though it never happened to me.

How big are the uploads? Worst case you could use anonfiles, or create your own torrent and share it when we're about to get compiling.
Adding the games into the document/list so we know what we have is priority now anyway.
I'd put forth a current plan like this:
1. Document what we have and what we got from the panic downloading at the start.
2. Check out what we think is missing, old and/or rare which could be worth preserving. Then find it.
3. Compile it into a torrent for fangames.
4. Look to other avenues (print works, music CDs, non-H doujins) if we have any energy left.

As for something I'd like to see resurface, Yukkuri Diary was exactly as it sounds. There's an Android version that's easy to obtain on multiple sites, but there was also a PC version that was taken down due to usual yukkurifag drama. Any version is fine.

I've played it again, gotten to level 75 and I have a better idea of the game's systems now.
The game is divided into "levels", each level lasts 12 seconds, besides boss levels. Each level consists of a single pattern of fairies, and if all the fairies are gone, either because you ate them or because they fell off screen, then they'll respawn in the exact same pattern that they were in before so long as there's a bit over 3 seconds left in the level. As soon as the level's timer reaches 1-2 seconds the living fairies on that stage will repeat, and when the timer hits 0 the next level starts which marks the start of the next pattern of fairies. They'll appear even if there are defeated fairies from the previous level on screen. The icons on the bottom of the screen indicate how many fairies will appear in that level and which colors, but this isn't too useful since you have maybe a second to look at it before they start spawning.
Every 10 levels an "Accident" occurs, which is a hazard caused by another character during that level, excluding boss levels. The order of the Accidents isn't randomized, and the ones I saw were Cirno snowflakes, China kicking you, Yuuka sunflowers, Marisa(?) stars, Tenshi rocks and Tewi rabbits. The sole exception to the 10 levels rule was Kogasa, who appears at level 65. Isn't that surprising?
Bosses appear every 25 levels, and the time limit on their level is 40-45 seconds long. Unlike normal levels once you defeat them their level will immediately end. I haven't tried timing them out, but I assume that they just leave if you do. The bosses I encountered were Daiyousei, Lily White, and the Three Fairies of Light. I assume that Cirno is the final boss.
The icon in the bottom left just lets you know if the next level will be a normal level, an Accident level, or a boss level. If it's a normal level then the color indicates at least one of the fairies on that level is of that color, but you have no way of knowing the amount or the overall mix.
Your hunger meter increases every time you reach rainbow mode, and the general flow of the game is that you want to figure out the quickest way to clear the current level's pattern and then repeatedly do so to raise your meter as much as possible. If you're about to reach a boss level it may be worth not entering rainbow mode since that rapidly drains your hunger meter.

It seems that apart from the 1st new track about wolves, the 2nd track "Illusionary White Traveler" from HSiFS has different instrumentation. Huh you are right. at about ~2:25 onwards there is a bit more stuff going on, but its really subtle. At ~1:30 onward it seems to be mixed a bit differently, with the vocals and melody taking a bit more prominence over the synth arpeggio? I don't know if its just the VK stream but the percussion instruments seems a bit more low-fi / quieter as well.

USB3.0 has a much higher ceiling than any hard drive on the market now. you shouldnt have any problems with speed vs direct sata/sas.
As for reliability, I usually buy WD easystore externals because they (sometimes) come with asmedia controllers on their USB/sata board, which I can use after shucking the drive and sticking it in a disk shelf.

Oh thanks that is handy. The audio files tags are a bit buggy when extracted (incorrect duration times) but it nothing a program like MP3 Diags can't fix.
It's still a just a MP3 VBR that has been re-encode with no proper tags, so its not great. But its better than nothing.

But pirated version is still the preferable way to play because Steam versions don't work with vsync patch.
Also after all these years ZUN still haven't bothered moving all the text and UI elements into some easily accessible and editable files to at least allow Day 1 translations.
I consider piracy to be mandatory for Touhou to function at all and half-assed Steam releases (that should've happened 5 years sooner) haven't changed my mind on this in the slightest. I do buy Touhou on Steam but I see it as ZUN's tip jar rather than legit game purchases.

It is not ZUN or his representative issuing DMCA for the fan games. They have only done so for official content.

The fan games being taken down are either at the request of the circles themselves or someone representing them. They became aware of it due to the spread of news related to the initial DMCA for official material.
