Gotta put in teams that either cover each others weaknesses or boost their existing strenghts. Suika, Poorhu and Kokoro all have yin attack as a random example. Putting in multiple AoE Last Words is enough to clear any random story stage besides some of the final ones. Yorihime works very well with Yukari.

Teambuilding is a strange thing in this game, because a lot of the content can be solo-d, and if a stage may need more than one character, it heavily depends on the stage itself. But for some more strategic content like Tower, you typically put characters that support their attack type (yin/yang) with characters that want support. For example, Ran primarily deals Yang damage, especially her Last Word. Merlin debuffs enemy Yang defense, which can increase Ran's damage against the opponent. The stage itself can change your team compositions, like if the enemies have a shared elemental weakness, which you can use to fullbreak them easily and enjoy big damage. Or perhaps the enemies can hit really hard, and you need more turns to setup than the amount of barriers you have. In this case, you can use the switch function and get into switch links and stuff, or you can bring a tank who can soak up damage and likely contribute something else as well. Or say you have a character who can break specific barrier statuses with an attack they have, you can bring along characters that apply this barrier status to the enemy for extra breaking.

Your yang attackers are Reimu, Toyohime, Ran, Yukari, and Yuyuko. Toyohime + any of those would work because she can buff their yang attack.

Your yin attackers are Suika, Rin, and Shion. Suika buffs yin attack via grazing so pair her with one of those two. Suika + Shion is nice as they both hit fire weakness too.

Balanced attackers are Youmu and Kasen. They're more flexible but their lack of specialization means that buffs to yang or yin alone won't be as effective.

Edge Flan has 3 on the end of her LW and solo spell card. Yachie has some, but she's mostly wood. PCB Yukari has 2 on her all spellcard and 3 on her LW. ZUN Sanae has 2 on her solo card and 2 on her LW. ZUN Cirno and Nitori obviously have a lot, and Nazrin has a surprising amount of water too. Lastly Ichirin is also pretty loaded.

They have plenty of options if they want to squeeze in some water before the event

Depends on the type of card. The spirit point giving cards typically give 0.5 more if you MLB them. For some characters this is absolutely critical, while for others it's merely nice.
For attack-boosting cards the difference is between a +0.6x or +0.9 multiplier. Nice but not earth-shattering.
Buttlet-type buff cards on the other hand really NEED to be MLB. Many of them double in effectiveness, though it depends on the card.

This may be just me but the recent EX stages have made me think less of enemy debuff cards compared to self/party buff ones. They are strong for dealing damage and their effects benefit the entire frontline but they are single target and only work until the enemies are fully broken or lose their HP gauge.

Yes. A broken HP gauge means a full buff/debuff/barrier wipe. On a side note, a fully broken enemy cannot be affected by Yin/Yang DEF debuffs (probably because they are already at the max debuff level of 0.25x when fully broken) but can be affected by CRIT/Evasion debuffs.

Oh, this is pretty much guaranteed. We already exhausted the standard character pool. The devs are looking to powercreep at least all the popular standard units with powered up versions.

Now the game will be free to give out more free rolls for the general pool, while heavily encouraging investing on the newer versions.

The standard pool will soon become a newbie trap and story card farm for veterans.

Definitely. The only characters left to add are Narumi, EIka, Toutetsu, the th18 cast, and non-game characters like the secret sealing club or whalehu. I'd say they have less than 20 new units remaining, and they have to keep releasing new units to maintain interest. Shame they decided to go FES-only though, since it'll make the normal pool pretty stagnant.

Kaguya has her inevitable sentai SFES, her and Eirin are next on the JP reincarnation list, Mokou already has a reincarnation, and all of them plus Keine have two costumes each. I'd hardly call that "forgotten". It's probably more that the basegame IN characters were all decent compared to trash units like Nitori or Byakuren, so their ZUNhu forms aren't prioritized. I bet we'll see one soon, but none of them are in dire straits.

She's a pretty good star breaker. Copies ZUN Reimu's 3 breaks @ 2P on an All spellcard. 4 breaks @ 3P. She has 3 water breaks in her last word which might be useful for the upcoming water EX stage. In terms of support she offers a bunch of crit defense down. 4 down on turn 1, and 6-8 down if given the chance to set up, so she's a good friend to units with a bunch of slayers.

On the downside that's pretty much it. She's straightforward and certainly solid, but not earth-shattering or anything. Imo she's not as strong as ZUN Reimu, but not too far behind, either. More like around the same level as Iku or such.

Elemental breaks matter very little when a character is all about status effects. Little Junko straight up has 0 elemental bullets on anything besides her regular shot. I've used a team of Cirno, EoSD Cirno and lvl 70 SFES Sakuya purely to get ice on everyone and you can do stuff like that with Patchouli as well except with fire instead of ice. Not having perfect accuracy on turn 1 is also no problem because you can always either pair her up with someone who boosts accuracy or do something like putting a 3 stage accuracy card on one of her spells. Since her skill raises accuracy by 1 for 3 turns, even something that normally only boosts accuracy by 3 stages for 1 turn can just be added on top of it with the longer duration.

Alright I guess I'll let gameplay be the deciding factor. So what do you guys think of little junk? How does she compare to the other SFES characters? I know that discord tier list rates her very highly but the nips tend to rate her more on par with the Mecha protags.

Her ability to break literally every anomaly is pretty cool, not to mention breaking multiple with one card. But her ability to inflict anomalies is very single-target focused. Her support outside of that (debuff: crit def, yin def; buff: yin atk, acc, +0.5P) is good but not mind-blowing like Toyohime's is. I'm also not sure how pervasive anomaly immunity is at higher tower floors, etc.

SFES Junko is Medicine with a shotgun. Medicine's main drawback is that the breaks are limited to her LW so she is one and done, then we have her wet noodle damage that can't even properly capitalize on a barrier broken foe.

SFES doesn't have to unload all at once to break barriers so she may be capable to be used multiple times. Also, her damage as a SFES really helps up on capitalizing on a barrier broken foe.

Lastly, her strong non elemental damage is pretty nifty for event farming.

SFES Junko really shines if you have a core to support her amazing barrier breaks. Great for veterans and whales. Newbies and F2P are better off waiting for Hunter Flan instead.

I love their dedication to shoving EoSD into basically everything they can. Why is Sakuya part of this event and not say Momiji, who actually has a sword, not knives? Miko has a sword too and hasn't been the focus of an event.

Most units have a weakness to an element. It shows up next to the "weak" label. When fighting, you should use spellcards that have most elements that the enemy is weak to. For example, if the enemy is weak to sun, use a spellcard with sun elements on it. That's how you break and you do more damage. Inversely, enemies have resistances to certain elements. It's generally preferred not to use the elemental spellcards on the elements they are resistant to. You won't get breaks and you'll do less damage.

No. Being level 100 and having your Last Word is good, but the important part is barrier breaking. Once an enemy's barrier is broken, they take loads more damage. Then you can finish them off with a LW, or even a regular spellcard if you've got a real strong character.

Try it out yourself: The first stage of the current event has Marisa weak to Fire, Earth, and Star. Take a character with those elements to fight her on Lunatic, and notice how her barriers break (up-left) when you hit her with the correct elements. Don't just insta-kill her with a LW either, because that won't work in the tower.

I haven't had to stall a tower floor in a very long while.
I sometimes do it just for the hell of it, but with only needing to blast through 2 floors a day it's easier to just throw everything into a blender until enemy stops existing.

in this stage, lolijun applies poison to later break it with her first spellcard, full breaking loliko
