Japanese firearm and blade control laws state that you are not allowed to carry any type of firearm, fixed blades longer than 10cm, or any type of spring-assisted lockable blades.
If you brake this law, you might find yourself facing a life sentance (in the case of a gun) or up to 10 years (knives of sorts)

In certain regions, a permit for hunting rifles is available, but HARD to get.
As for swords or blades, the only blades longer than 10cm and legal in japan are bread knives and nihonto, yet nihonto require a permit (though this one is pretty easy to get, but takes up to 2 months to process)
