Tried it with the score.dat that has everything cleared and it shows five continues remaining to use when you get a game over. Curious about what unlocks extra continues now. Failing the game multiple times isn't one of them.

Pretty sure failing multiple times is. Or at least retrying. Was surprised as hell when on my own easymodo attempts that it was no longer game-over at Yuyuko (goddamn I've captured all easymodo spellcards at least once, but consistently fail all of hers - except that easy flowering one that sort of chases you) because I mysteriously had a fourth continue for some reason. The fifth was unnecessary.

You've probably figured out all the tricks to Yuyuko's battle by now, and there's nothing left but to dodge. I'll share what I know so far just in case.

First, Youmu's spell is completely static. As is her noncard, but being aimed.

The laser for Yuyuko's first spell should be a nonissue; it'll never cross the middle. If you don't mind prolonging the battle you can fly all the way to the edge of the screen so you don't have to handle dodging bullets moving diagonally.

Basic reading and prediction for her second spell. The waves of butterfly bullets are static but the extra effort to memorize them is unnecessary. Rather, follow a general path so you'll know when to cut back to the other side and the bubble bullets will be less of a hassle.

You seem to have the third spell down fine. As for the fourth spell, you are greeted with more static bullet patterns outside of the aimed ones. There are three main safety zones about halfway up the screen. Use parts of the background to know where to fly to, and take it easy when streaming the aimed bullets. You can move to each of the three locations or jump between the two on either end depending on how confident you are with your streaming.

>> No.3900863

>>3900849
Sad to admit I don’t have her fifth spell fully down, but just enough to finish it. First is the bullet opener then a set of purple butterfly bullets. After that she’ll fire blue / purple, pause, then repeat. It is important to note that the left ‘arm’ of the purple butterfly bullets are aimed at you, as is the right arm of the blue ones.

You should start off at the left corner then stream as slowly as possible to the right. When you’re ready to head in the other direction (and don’t decide when you’re up against the wall) you want to wait until she enters a pause moment following the purple set. Jump a little over to the right to give yourself as much leeway as possible with regards to the random petal bullets. Because the next butterfly wave she fires will be blue the aimed portion will be to your right, offering no chance to impede your change in direction. Hopefully you’ll be done with the spell before hitting the left side because it’ll be quite flooded with petals to make any headway.

For the final spell I find it easier to move up about a fourth of the way on the screen and dodge the red waves before they have a chance to spread. That’s all there is to it, predicting the paths.

And a replay, there’s never enough replays.

Actually, more like five safety zones but mainly three (center and adjacent ones) to pay attention to with the increase in static bullets for the higher difficulties.

Thanks for the advice. I've downloaded your replay. Looks like for spell 1, I should try hugging the corners a lot more. Laser was never a problem, I even forgot it was in the card until I saw the replay. I probably try to take this card too aggressively, and fail, perhaps due to bad memories of China's vaguely similarly rotating spell that had a short timer. Spell 2 still looks freakish, mainly due to the giant bubbles, otherwise I could handle it.
Card 4, validates my attempted method but lets me know I was trying it too close to the bottom, and there wasn't time for the bullets to spread thin enough before I had to move the other way. Moving closer to the middle it is.
Card 5 still looks like a giant clusterfuck, but we'll see...
I had no idea the final card was simply survival, I just assumed by shots did near imperceptible damage, I'm curious to see how I fare with this new knowledge

>> No.3901118

6th stage PCB? Youmu's noncard on that stage seems to be much easier than ther 5th stage card. Also, I tend to misjudge how far past the center the lasers go on Yuyuko's first card.

I've been playing EoSD for the past 3 weeks on normal and can't consistently beat stage 4. I'm improving slowly on the level, but I just can't get past Patchouli's lasers.

I'm terrified of what stage 5 and 6 hold if 4 is giving me this much trouble.

>> No.3903211

>>3903198
I wish I had that image explaining the laser just about now, since it's a pain in the ass to explain.

Basically, it's like this: the laser follow the same pattern while the bullets are all aimed, take this into account a find a route that won't get you boxed in.

How's your performance of the first three stages? I normally find as long as I come out with as many lives and bombs as possible before the stage I'm having trouble with I can just bomb as soon as I feel even slightly under pressure and breeze through the stage; thus unlocking it for practice.

>> No.3903222

>>3903198
After the first two NDL you should be to the left. Try about a quarter of the way from the wall. Slow streaming so you still have some room when the next two NDL and aimed bullets come up. Don't worry too much about the laser moving to the left; it'll lose its hitbox once it reaches the middle. Now *keep* streaming to the right then turn around to stream the bullets that come with the NDL. Repeat.

Any advice for her big shiny gorram balls she's tossing all around the place? I find that harder then the lasers. I already beat her but I'm trying to whittle down the number of bombs and lives I spent on her stage, WAY to many.

>How's your performance of the first three stages?

Decent with Reimu. I can often make it to stage 4 without losing a life now, though I sometimes tend to make stupid mistakes at Cirno and one of Hong Mei Ling's patterns before the last attack gives me difficulty.

I try not to use many bombs, but I might have to do that now to get past Patchouli.

So, was doing some Shoot the Bullet, and reading over the Touhou Wiki I noticed the following.

>Of note is that Aya may complain about the quality of your pictures if your highest score for a scene isn't high enough.
>Cleared scenes that meet this high-score requirement will have their flavor text (towards the bottom of the screen) in light red, as opposed to the normal blue.

However, all of my flavor text is light red. From what I see, I'd think the indicator would be Aya's facial expressions, but is Wiki really right, and I just suck that badly?
