Looks like McDonald's has finally pushed it's only other American burger competitor out of the Japanese market. Was anything of value lost, those of you who've eaten at a Japanese Wendy's?

Unlike America which needs at least 5 different fast food burger restaurants within 2 blocks of each other, Japan can get along just fine without Wendy's (note there are a few BKs in Tokyo).

Plus there's also Japanese burger chains like Lotteria and Mosburger which are infinitely better.

In Southeast Asia, BK is aimed for middle to upper class consumer. With just 3 US bucks you can get middle sized whopper complete with jumbo french fries and coke. Approx. 40% bigger portion compared to McD. People still visit McD though because for every BK there are 10-20 McDs in surrounding area; the location isn't strategic, but the interior are always taken care so well.

The BK mustache mascot isn't used, which I think is a good marketing move.

I heard US' BK is like a shitdump comparable to McD, so I just go "lol?"

The Japanese McD didn't seem that different from US, though I admit it had been like a year since I last went to a US McD.

Serving size on the fries was a little smaller, but not by a huge amount. Coke tasted better, probably since they use real sugar. No decaf coffee.
