Disregard bad advice frequently posted in these threads. Things to avoid:
・any rentry.org and геddiт """guides""". nothing good has ever come out of геddiт.
・Itazuraneko. Outdated, hard to follow, confusing for beginners.
・Anime cards (the guide by someone named QM). It recommends words cards, which are proven to be less effective than targeted sentence cards (TSCs).
・Core 2.3k. It is based on newspapers from early 90s and additionally sorted in a way that makes learning harder. Try Ankidrone Starter Pack instead.
・Anacreon. Anacreon is an infamous spammer. He constantly hijacks our threads to shill his shit.
・tmw/The moe way. Patreon scam run by a turkish tranny.
・Discord servers. Discord is malware that runs a data mining operation. DJT has moved to Matrix.
・Refold, Migaku and other for-profit companies who want to scam you.

u can make a small bash script to call a cmdline screenshot util the move the file to ur collection and copy the filename inside an image tag to ur clipboard
u can do the same thing with audio recording
although if you don't know how to do this you shouldn't be using linux as a daily drive probably

desu I started learning after I traveled to Japan, I didnt know much about it yet and really loved how the language sounded, thats why I started. After that I got into anime, which later turned into manga and thanks to djt I got into vinnies. But the core for me is still how the language sounds

try different things until you find what does then, for me, i write every kanji a few times when i first see it, (don't stress over that too much but do copy the right stroke order), look up what it means and some words that use it for both readings (random example 魔、magic, id grab 魔女、魔王、魔物、etc), then i cant forget it without forgetting all of the words and i can recover it by thinking of any of those words

anyway, no kanji will ever be harder than your first one, each ies easier after that, eventually youll see them once and have them, so don't worry too much if they aren't sinking right away

the most important thing is constancy, also you cant force things, some will only stick after sleeping, 10 mins every day is better than 70 mins once a week (do more than 10 mins a day tho)

By the time you watch them all, I think you'll understand why trying to fit them into this video would just be insanely crammed.

VIDEO SUMMARY:
- Studying is not the same as learning

- Studying is physical while learning is a cognitive process

- Studying techniques that produce low learning are time consuming

- Different techniques invoke different levels of learning

- Memory going into longterm memory is called encoding

- Level of encoding determines a significant amount of retention

- Retrieving memory from longterm to working memory in order to use it for applications is called retrieval

- Information that is in working memory instead of long term is forgotten very quickly

- Active recall and spaced repetition work through adjusting the forgetting curve only through repetition

- This is only working on retrieval aspect of memory only

- This doesn't help with encoding

- Encoding would reduce the knowledge decay of the forgetting curve to reduce the number of repetitive revisions and relearning sessions needed, therefore saving lots of time

- Proper encoding also makes learning more enjoyable and engaging

- Techniques that cause poor encoding and use low cognitive load are called passive techniques

- A sign of passive learning is sleepiness

- Techniques that cause high learning through appropriate cognitive load are called active learning techniques. There are many.

- Low retention studying due to poor encoding is unsustainable to fix with repetition based techniques

- Encoding involves cognitive load

- Cognitive load feels uncomfortable and confusing

- This is partially why so few students use encoding techniques

- Another reason retrieval techniques like active recall and spaced repetition are so common is due to the Dunning Kruger effect where low knowledge causes high confidence

- This combines with success bias whereyou don't hear about the failure stories

- This then combines with availability bias where we define legitimacy by how common we are exposed to it

- This creates a spiral of unknowledgeable people creating videos about common techniques that are not as effective as they claim, making it more available, increasing its perceived legitmacy

- Considering that encoding is naturally difficult, this makes encoding techniques very uncommonly talked about
