Finally got around to working on that PC98 pack with the games in a simple double-click-and-play format, suitable for lazy people.
What do you guys think of the icon choices here?
I went with ZUN's style which involves using marisa for each of them, but for HRtP I had no choice but to use something else and I'm not completely convinced about this one (it's from the score screen shown after each 5-stage section).

The main folder has those custom icons, each of which is a link to a simple bat file which copies a different dosbox settings file to the dosbox folder depending on the game (telling it to load the hdi image with the game requested) and fires up dosbox. Everything except the icons will be stored away in a subfolder to avoid cluttering the view.
Nothing too fancy, but the simpler things are the less shit that can go wrong.
There's also gonna be two of each icon. The duplicates will have a little E on them to indicate the english patched version, so that people can run the original if they prefer.

just remember the hitboxes on the large orbs aren't nearly as big as the sprites. don't panic. and for the smaller bullet pattern I try to stay near the center as that always guarantees you shouldn't have to move too much if at all.

If you aren't already playing on fullscreen, try doing that if you have problems with the big orbs. The gaps between them are a lot more visible that way. Once you get the hang of it, you can go back to regular size too.

^ It's finally up. Introducing "The Touhou98 Experience" (suggestions for a better name are welcome).
Hours have gone into polishing every single aspect, from deleting any leftover settings and score files from the disk files you can get from the all-in-one pack on nyaa to tweaking the emulator settings to suit each game.
Each game can be fired up from a different exe, just like the windows-era games, and two different emulators are included and can be switched by simply swapping a folder. One of them (np21w) features a fullscreen mode with lower input lag than any of the most commonly used emulators.

Please give it a try and let me know if they run fine on your pc. It's only missing some testing and a readme file before it gets a proper release.

If you've already got some hdi disks with saves and scores you can use them by replacing the files in the "disks" folder with them.

That's pretty cool. Make sure to share it in the Gameplay thread or in wider scope so people don't miss out on what sounds like a retardproof way of playing PC-98. I'm fine with what I have myself but I might download it someday, I think i've fumed a few times at input lag when I was doing LLS Extra and trying to bomb.
