Which one of you failures thought you were just so hilarious editing that? You have the comedic sense of the average Walfas comic.

How is it fun? It's just pointless vandalism. It isn't funny, it isn't witty, it isn't necessary. It's just some kid chortling to himself like a /b/tard after he just made some epic lulz comment in response to someone else. I wouldn't be surprised if he screencapped that edit and posted it in a later thread.

This makes me wonder if there's a list of genes with unusual names.

Scientists have twisted senses of humor.

>> No.3870060

>>3869980
That's a lot of genes, because the norm to find functions of genes was mutating them randomly, seeing what you lost and naming the associated genes after the difference. Fruit flies have a tinman gene that gives them no hearts when mutated. Mutated deah gene gives them inverted heads.

Humans have a transposon called Tigger.

Oh, and there is this gem I like a lot.

>Superman is a plant gene in Arabidopsis thaliana that plays a role in controlling the boundary between stamen and carpel development in a flower. It is named for the comic book character Superman, and the related genes kryptonite (gene) and clark kent were named accordingly (although the latter turns out to just be another form of superman)

Clark Kent is actually Superman! Who'd have guessed? I bet kryptonite is the inhibitor.

Apparently there's a list but it isn't working for me. Though here it is: http://tinman.vetmed.helsinki.fi/eng/intro.html

Can you blame them? they have to do science. Not being able to believe whatever they want, no freedom of thought outside what is proven/provable...

>> No.3870202

>>3870073
It's not that bad. We just have to compartmentalize the known, the unknown, the think-we-know, and pure fantasy so they don't blend together. We can still enjoy things like Golden Witches, Gensokyo, and Gundam, but we know that such things are simply imaginings and thus have no rational basis for existing.
