Hey /jp/. Visual Novel newbie here, hoping to get into some more.

Currently I'm split between diving into either Tsukihime or Umineko. Is either one so especially great that I should do it first? Or are there any other ones worthy of my attention? Already finished F/SN.

Opinions/suggestions encouraged.

Mashiroiro Symphony is a good eroge for beginners. After that, give the Triangle Heart games a shot. They're a little dated now, but classics.

I'm no newbie to eroges, but I do favor proper deep visual novels. Haven't played either of those, though, I'll look into them, thanks.

I would suggest Tsukihime, then Planetarian and True Remembrance are good short ones that can be finished off in a few days.

>> No.3846911

If I were you I'd just watch the anime of both. They are better than the VN they get adapted from.
More importantly you could discuss it with /a/ that way, and I imagine you'd enjoy their company more than ours.

There is no trollface image large enough for you.

Read them both, they're both good.

You've trolled before, haven't you? Nicely done.

Planetarian is great for beginners. But that probably doesn't matter since you've already conquered F/SN. Try Tsukihime if you liked that.

>> No.3846939

Start with Tsukihime, so you will know what a basic VN is like.

Umineko has no choices to make in it, so it's referred to as a Sound Novel instead. Consider it as being seperate.

That's never deterred anyone....
where were you back in April when Katawa Shouo was all over /a/, /v/, even /tg/ and everyone flocked here looking for more?

OP

They are both sufficiently different stories that there isn't much harm done in reading them out of order. You may miss a few references in F/SN if you read it before Tsukihime but they are extremely minor and largely irrelevant to the story.

Read Umineko since it's currently being released and it will be spoiled for you faster if you hang around due to all the discussion.

Read Ever17 before /jp/ accidentally spoils it for you. Even if you have a favorite character make sure to do every route. The final route is bricks-shitting amazing.
