Half the time its production delays, the rest involves waiting for shipping from the distribution centers, to those American based hobbysites, and finally to you.

Just be sure to check multiple sites for the release date.

Personally I've had delayed items going over more than 2 months due to the site I ordered from fucking up everything. (and they actually tried to charge me double too)

Also remember that due to massive mail volume during the holidays, its better to place an order early, otherwise they will go over Christmas.
