People like Sugita (Getsuei Gakuen) and Asano Masumi (Sore ga Seiyuu!) started from doujin level because they had an artistic vision and the passion to create something from zero without relying on outsiders. Eventually they were recognized by people with power in the industry, but the initial step for both was selling at Comiket.

Anyone can tell that this furryshit has no real substance behind it and despite trying to pass it off as Y.Aoi's original project, it's obviously just a cash grab handled by a whole committee: a full cast of popular seiyuu, vocaloid covers, Hyadain compositions, and a manga serialization are all things that anyone with huge corporate backing could accomplish, but anyone with artistic integrity would refuse.
Since furryshit will never be popular in mainstream and they have barely any followers on Twitter and Youtube even after two years, at some point the project will collapse under it's own weight and the suits simply move on to their next scheme while Y.Aoi is made into a scapegoat.

This particular thread is obvious MKL shenanigans, the easy identifier is the fact that it was made early, seems if he doesn't make one early with his shitty seiyuu either the Aoifag makes one with a bunch of old has beens, or another anon makes a relevant one with birthday seiyuu or a new picture

Not really, even if they do get an iconic role there's no guarantee they'll continue to get iconic roles. I mean, look at Akari Kitou, you'd think voicing Nezuko would guarantee a shitload of roles like with Hanae. But that hasn't really seemed to happen. But I doubt however she'll ever top Nezuko anyway.

Yeah but for every Akarin you have someone like Sumipe, or Inorin who, whether you dislike them or not, have consistently scored iconic roles in popular anime. Hell, even Ayaeru has been in a bunch of anime the last ten years or so and in some big roles.
So it seems like even lesser seiyuu can have as much generational success as Hayashibara, and a few really good and really committed seiyuu like a certain goblin have transcended that generational success by repeatedly appearing in good anime and in a different range of roles.
I was convinced in 2017 when she played the mc of two reboots and pulled of both and starred as the Youjo Senki loli that she was one of the best, and she just keeps going, scoring a role in PreCure and continuing to reinvent herself.
She even had a string of randumb comedy roles.
That being said for me Chiwa will always be the GOAT, although I do agree with the Aoifag on merit that she is close.

In terms of Madoka? Absolutely not. She's certaintly voiced characters that end up being super popular (from a gacha perspective, Shuten and Taihou), which has helped, but none of them will be as iconic as Madoka.

Iris was sadly in the worst Pokemon season (I'm not sure if she's still Iris in Masters since I don't play it). Nazi Loli is definitely no.

Imo she's been very lucky. I'm not the biggest fan of her. Never understood the hype (don't bother trying to convince me), but I think a lot of her hype comes from her personality and just the characters she's managed to voice.

People who say Madoka is an iconic role were definitely not watching the series while it was airing (wouldn't be surprised if they never watched it in the first place). The character itself did nothing until the final episode (meaning no memorable scenes, hence no memorable acting from Y.Aoi) and she was never popular when compared to any of the main girls.

Rought story of Aoi's early career as an anime voice actress
2003 - 2007
Transitional period. Mostly playing supporting and secondary characters in 少女向け anime. All loli roles.
2008
Kure-Nai. This is "the" big role for Aoi. Co-starring with Sawashiro at 16 years-old and showing expertise and nuance way beyond what one would expect of someone so young. If you are curious on why Aoi has a career at all go watch that show, it's just 12 episodes and it looks better than 99% of the anime released in current year.
This is when the industry and her agency started to take notice of her.(and frankly they would have to been really, really dumb to not capitalize in someone as cute and talented as Aoi)
Also starred in Shikabane Hime which while otherwise unremarkable it was the first show in which she went outside of the loli type-casting and got to show some ranged voicing a more mature lady.
2009
Banking on the good rep she got in 2008 she lands two lead roles in year-long productions. One of them directed by Shoji Kawamori. Still a lot of loli roles though.
2010
This is when things start to really pick up for her. A lot of more diverse roles. She gets to work for Shaft, be on a Noitamina show, Sora no Woto, and probably more importatly gets a role in Pok emon and gets to hang around and learn from people like Hayashibara Megumi and Shinichiro Miki for a good 3 years.

Then 2011 is Madoka, Aoi winning the best lead actress award. Things you probably already know about.
>>38380142
>EOP
You are trying to posture as something you are not.
On the contrary, "Madoka didn't shot anybody so she is not the protagonist" or latching to badass characters is a thing stupid gaijin do, not Japanese. Japanese are all over more traditionally girly characters. In Precure though most seasons the pink is the most consistently popular character. (Also in other magical girl shows with Usagi and Sakura) In JRPG series like Tales girly characters like Colette or Estelle are more beloved than any other girl. Japanese preferred Lacus over Cagalli. And so on.
All the characters I mentioned, Madoka, included, are the fan favorite and receive the bulk of all fanart.

I don't know why iconicposter keeps posting at this point. He is MKL tier by now.

If she voiced the main female, then yes, you could use it. Why do you think fans of VAs don't bring up movies a lot of the time? Yes considering she has characters like Madoka, Shuten, Taihou, Tatsumaki, and plenty others that you can easily brag about. Taihou actually got 3rd in the recent AL popularity polls on the JP server (can't remember where she placed on EN servers)
>I suppose you're the same anon who thinks Madoka isn't iconic
Not that Anon. I was actually having a discussion above in the thread talking about iconic characters
>Symphogear should not be a credit to Y. Aoi's legacy
Never implied that. It can be, but I still think it was successful because of Nana.
>winning awards like Newtype's best seiyuu or being the youngest seiyuu to win best actress at the official awards matters?
Newtype is Aniplex biased, and a lot of her shows were produced by Aniplex (if you ever seen those Newtype character polls you would've seen SAO dominate those polls for a long time until Higurashi came along).

And again with the official awards, they're corrupt and heavily biased. Madoka was huge in 2011 so of course it was a no-brainer she was gonna win. No one takes those awards seriously (as you will soon find out when the 2022 seiyuu awards roll around, you'll find many posts complaining about who won)
>What does count for you in order to build up a seiyuu's legacy?
Honestly? My answer would be to look at all the Seiyuu from the 80's to 90's, especially Wakamoto and Yamadera. Voicing lots of characters help, but those characters need to have staying power, like, it would be a crime to change that character's VA because they did such an amazing job at it.

Yeah, I prefer Aoi
I think you're right about her having a lot of popular roles to brag about though, but I also think it's fair to brag about her awards and her roles in big hit movies too!
Nana deserves most of the success for Symphogear that's true, but not all of it, and Aoi is a big part of that franchise and does play the main character.
Reminder that Aoi should be compared to female seiyuu, not male seiyuu as there are different definitions for success and quite frankly different standards for each.
What else are you on about, other than trying to, like always, discredit Y.Aoi's entire career despite her clearly being the greatest female seiyuu that's currently working at a high level, and she hasn't even hit 30.
Go look at her filmography, at her work in video games, he dabbling in photobooks, music, and whatever ancillary bullshit comes with the seiyuu mantle, and then look at her obvious projection.
Imagine had Hayabshibara scored the role of Rei at 18 and imagine inf that role required more than monotonous lines every other episode, now imagine if she also branched out into a range of roles and enterprises, that is essentially Y.Aoi's career as it stands now.
I still have not heard one other seiyuu that comes close except for a few old ones that never made it to her level of success at her age.
Wait until she is done and then judge, until then she is the greatest female seiyuu by virtue of the fact taht she is still at it and doing it at a high level. She signed to a new agency, and she will be diversifying her resume soon.
The very fact that a few anons get so spergy about her greatness only magnifies it in my opinion.

I also never shat on Hayashibara, instead I used her as a barometer for Aoi's success, had Hayashibara been as successful as Aoi was at 18 in the current industry there's no doubt she would be the greatest, but that is not the reality.
I think that Aoi is not a very good singer at all, despite her continued music career(she released those stupid furry manga songs lately) and I do think that she is often not fit for certain roles and tries too hard.
However, I have yet to see someone properly articulate why she is not the greatest without resorting to ad hominem attacks, discounting her achievements, or claiming, as you are doing, that older seiyuu are somehow magically better because they have had longer careers with which to compare her with.
Until someone legitamately proves otherwise I will assume that Aoi is the greatest currently active seiyuu, and you have not done that, and neither has any of the other myriad anons who have so valiantly tried.

Which parameter are we using for attributing Symphogear's success to Nana?
That she sang the OP? Because I can name quite a few shows like Cross Ange that have Nana OP's and performed poorly and I can tell you most fans of Nana's music don't watch anime.
Nana's character, Tsubasa, is only relevant in S1 and S5 (in all other seasons she is a supporting character) and always ranks last or second to last among the main characters in popularity polls.

What I would say about Nana and is that she knew about the project long before it was a reality due to his connection with Agematsu and the Nanoha connection but I don't think she is a big factor on the show at all.
Her character moreso than any other exists for Nana to do whatever she wants with it and have fun. Sort of like Agematsu and Kaneko for all the support since the early days. Tsubasa doesn't have a lot of weight in the actual narrative.

Also if you go watch any of the lives, Aoi draws a way bigger reaction from the crowd than Nana does. Most evident in the 2016 concert.
Agematsu even wrote about it saying how Aoi's performance represents what he aims to achieve with his music the best.

>that older seiyuu are somehow magically better because they have had longer careers with which to compare her with.
Not once did I ever say that, I'm sure a lot of female seiyuu in the 90's faded out. But Hayashibara, along with Yukarin/Nana/Hocchan set the trend of being an idol/seiyuu hybird so its only natural to compare Aoi to them, regardless of age.

That's just incorrect. Also, let's face it, for better or worse Y.Aoi is a more recognizable name than Hayami Saori, I mean she even has more twitter followers and those faggots over on the anime board love her for some reason.

Oh I don't care too much about dubbing idk why he brought it up. Though I know dubbing is harder and pays more. Also do you watch One Piece? How would you know if she's not impressive. Its impressive that she managed to land a major role in such a long running series. SxF hasn't aired yet so we won't know how she does until the first episode airs.

>Seems like she can barely draw from my recollection.
Well, a few years back 4 seiyuus including Hayami contributed to a manga about seiyuu that eventually got a Drama CD. IRC I think they designed the characters, they each described their character but I honestly can't remember what character Hayamin designed
>I mean she even has more twitter followers and those faggots over on the anime board love her for some reason.
Don't care abot Twitter followers since not all VAs used Twitter and /a/ also know Hayamin and they love her along with Sakamoto and Sawashiro and Chiwa.

>who are you that you get to choose which roles matter for individual seiyuu and which don't?
Never said that. Use some common sense if you're gonna brag about seiyuus. I sure as shit would not use an extremely minor character just because they appeared in a really popular movie.

>why doesn't a lead role in a hit movie not count?
Again, I never said that. But a lot of time for anime movies they tend to just hire actors (Ghibli movies, for example do this) and they hire seiyuus for extremely minor parts.

>>38381206
Again, you're failing to realise how big it is to land a major character in such a legendary and long-running series like One Piece.

Learn how to use google, and you keep getting stuck in the whole Your Name thing huh? Is that the hill you want to die on? Y.Aoi was the topped billed seiyuu, not a minor character, and she also appeared in Weathering With You.
Why should you discount that role while claiming a One Piece role is more important? How is a random shonen role more important than being the top billed seiyuu in a huge box office hit?
I still have yet to hear a single role that Hayamin has that is as iconic as Madoka, or a single anime that she was in (that didn't also star Y.Aoi) that was as good as any of the anime Y.Aoi is known for.
You were right when you said that you're going in circles, because quite frankly you are. You have no argument and just keep greentexting and repeating the same things over and over.
Kakegurui and Mahouka were alright shows, but if those are the best Hayamin has to offer then I guess I would say that Y.Aoi has her beat in spades.
In fact, Y.Aoi was in better shows than Hayamin has been in when before th age of 18, that's right, I think that Madojka, Gosick, Sore Machie, Sora no Woto, Yumiero Patiessiere, Kure-Nai, Pokemon, Kino no Tabi, Kurimizooo, and many of the other shows Y.Aoi was in before even reaching her prime were better than the accumulated shows and roles of Hayamin.
And nothing against Hayamin by the way, after all it's only luck, and Y.Aoi managed to luck herself into some seriously good roles.

Reading it now. She has a long, impressive list of credits, but on my first glance it seems like more quantity over quality.
Could be wrong though. Still love Hayamin, and glad that you promote her and her career.
I still don't think she's better than Aoi, however, and I think that she just didn't luck out and get those big roles early. The fact that she's a year older also doesn't help. But who knows, maybe Aoi 's career will take a drastic downturn and her good friend will end up bettering her in their thirties. Would make for an interesting story.
See ya later fellow Hayamin appreciator.

>Why should you discount that role while claiming a One Piece role is more important?
Because it unironically is, you're just being an idiot. Your Name isn't the highest grossing film, its been overtaken several times. I literately couldn't care if you use it as a bragging point but you'll look like an idiot for doing so.

Also lets not forget AnoHana, which was also one of the biggest shows from 2011, and really good and did not have an Aoi Yuuki in it. And as much as I dislike the show, I must bring up
Inou-Battle wa Nichijou-kei no Naka de and THAT scene where she did it all in one take and received praise about it.

Also, out of all the shows you listed, how many are still talked about to this day? I distinctly remember B&W and Kino no Tabi to be negatively received. Sore Machi is only remembered for Omigawa's performance.
