Someone explain to me your fascination with Touhou.

>> No.3813437

I like the silly hats and the frilly dresses.

god, that picture is heavy

>> No.3813444

that's not some weak whiny bitch but strong women who can kill you if they want, and because it's awesome naturally

Just like little high school girls like Twiglight, so we love touhou, you explain it by sexual frustration.

>> No.3813463

Gameplay that requires enough dedication to induce a seizure (well, other shump series can claim this too, they just don't have as many games)

Characters that are a strange concoction of old folklore and ZUN's attempt to MS paint a loli.

Enough good music to make you deaf if you were to listen to it all.

Enough porn to fap yourself into a coma.

Enough fan works in general to make you blind if you saw it all.

Problem is, nobody's making an article about how horrible Touhou is. unlike Twilight ( http://theoatmeal.com/story/twilight )

Unless someone's willing to link to one.

And yes, I'm too much of a wuss pants to goggle it.

>> No.3813471

I don't even really care about Touhou. I just have a passing interest because of the lolis and it being posted all the time.

>> No.3813484

Charismatic characters, witty, well thought out dialogues and interesting storyline that holds a couple of plot twists.

Why does Touhou fascinate us?
Why do moths fly into fires?
Why do investors buy subprime loans?
Why do children laugh?
Why are we alive?

These are all questions that philosophers have grappled with for ages. Whatever the answers may be, I'm sure they'll be absolutely fascinating.

>> No.3813494

>>3813467
You can't really tear apart Touhou's story because it's a shoot 'em up. There doesn't need to be a story at all.

>> No.3813505

>>3813486
>Why do moths fly into fires?
They navigate based on light at night. Fire causes their navigation to screw up so they eventually end up flying into it.

>Why do investors buy subprime loans?
More risk, more reward. Or so they think.

>Why do children laugh?
Because such social interaction is beneficial to mental and social health.

>Why are we alive?
Because being alive makes genetic replication more reliable.

You were saying?

EoSD is by far the greatest addition to the Touhou series to this date. Danmaku patterns go well with the background music and are mesmerizing as well as beautiful to look at, controls are responsive, characters are interesting, dialogues are witty and draw you into the excellent storyline which still shines compared to the silly plot of later games(especially IN). While visiting the mansion you confront all the individuals living there slowly making your way to the last enemy. Upon meeting Sakuya things start to get serious and the final showdown under the crimson red moon as well as the ending leaves you with a satisfying closure of all the events.

She wants to block out the sun to go outside, that's about as silly as you can get.

I like Touhou because the games are challenging yet complemented well by the exotic graphical style and the catchy music, which makes the repetition of failure less demoralising. Even if you're sucking hardcore at the game, at least you have something nice to look at and listen to.

I make sure I read the dialogues once and then just hold Control whenever I'm about to finish a stage.

I do
you see, MS has plenty of motivation. the story is great and the intro is very appealing and makes me want more. when i beat the boss and get into the next level, i am in anxious anticipation of what my little touhou will get herself into next. maybe a dragon fight, maybe her parents are dead? who knows. the depth of the characters is beyond realistic and this game over all just keeps pulling me back for more.

I started playing touhou a few months ago. I think those games are wonderful, and I'm a pretty huge fan of flying shootan games (lol dangun feveron now is a piece of cake) so I like the gameplay a lot.

and oh, the delicious characters... oh, the awesome music... I don't know if someone else has experienced tickles when listening to a fucking awesome song? I do. (fuck year necro fantasy)... feels fucking good man.

I haven't experienced this level of joy when playing videogames since years ago, because that:

Beautiful, unique danmaku style. The spell card system is the best thing I've ever seen in a shooter.
The music. Oh gods, I think I have too much, and yet I still download whatever is posted here. And I still don't have as much as some anons.
The fan art. Especially crossovers.
