People don't shit out an Ancient Temple arrange on every single fan CD so I'm not sick of it yet like Border of Life.

Fun fact if you never bothered to look it up: the song's full title is "東方妖々夢　～ Ancient Temple" or "Touhou Youyoumu", making it the titular song in the game. Fascinating.

Not that lyrics are always bad, but they are terrible much more often than not.

I haven't played Crisis Core, so I can't say what I think of its soundtrack.

However, exceptions obviously exist. Both the voice and the guitar are proper instruments which can be used well. They only suffer from the fact that they are both popular. Many people who don't know how to use them try to do it anyway, and they usually just rip off every guitar/vocal piece they've heard instead of coming up with anything fresh. The resulting "music" could be compared to a /b/ meme--basically the same shit over and over, with most of it not even half as good as the original.

As for trance, the basics of the genre are all wrong, so it's basically shit as a rule. If you try to make good trance, you'll almost certainly end up switching to a different genre along the way.
