>reverse weaboo.
Herp derp.

In America it's a very small niche of people who know much or care about Japan.

In Japan It's their primary culture to have know and care about American culture. It's normal for them to watch American movies and TV, listen to American music. I mean shit, half their pop music is composed of American lyrics scattered randomly throughout. Not only that but they use the Latin Alphabet on just about everything to try and be "futuristic".

English words with their origin in Japanese.

>> No.3809883

I think we are all kind of missing a the point the term "Weeaboo" here.

Its an obsession, not just a general acceptance of certain bits of Japanese culture.

You probably wouldn't call a film geek who watches Japanese films a Weeaboo, Nor would you call someone who loves Samsung electronics a... Koreaboo.

Even though we watch a lot of American films in europe, there is a distinct group of people who are infatuated with American culture to the extent of listening only to American bands and following only American fashion trends.

A better definition of "Reverse Weeaboo", I think, would be "A Japanese person obsessed with things generally enjoyed by western geekdom." That is to say, a Japanese person who reads comic books, or a Japanese person who plays DnD, or a Japanese trekkie.

Do these people exist?

>> No.3809929

>>3809883
The problem is much of their mass media is based on shit from "American culture" and/or straight up IS American.

So really their entire culture nowadays, especially when it comes to things like music and film/tv, is based on being a 'reverse weeaboo'.
