Samurai fought Vikings and Knights fought Pirates in Deadliest Warrior.

Samurai beat Vikings by merit of the fact that Samurai were fucking bowmen before swordsmen.

Vikings. Not so good.

They had the strength, but they mostly couldn't be assed to come up with good military strategies and equipment. Too busy coming up with fuck yeah mythology and inventing ice skates, I guess.

Lu Bu can totally beat any of japan's heros.

Infact all of china's 3 kingdoms era heroes were far more badass than any sengoku era japan heroes

I dunno. Minamoto no Yoshitsune and Benkei were pretty badass.

But can they really compare to say, Xiahou Dun or Guan Yu.

Both were admirable heroes who gave up the value of their own lives to help their lords, and achieved amazing things against impossible odds.

Ohh shit. Good idea.

I bet King Arthur would win versus any samurai.

I mean hell, any named person in a romance of the three kingdoms book, is just a person who became professional, or was a fighting prodigy, who killed hundreds before dying.

Background varied, because you had farmers like Guan Yu who achieved legend status due to being a god of war, and justice.

People like Xiahou Dun who also achieved legend status for being loyal, and again a god of war.

Or asshole thieves and pirates who came in and achieved name status for just killing assloads of people before getting shot down by arrows, or defeated by another big name in a battle further down.

These guys are admirable because they were so remarkable compared to the regular conscript peasant soldier, enough to gain names and survive against stupidly lethal odds. You really feel like they earned it instead of how japan's heroes reached status due to propaganda, respect, or simply caste.

Hell, they went into battles involving far more bodies than any of japan's and came out alive, even when they went in balls deep. Well.. At least some of them.

I love how highly Japanese think of their Katana. It's so hilarious.

Also Saber won that.

In summary, both are just different types of luck.

Uh, no. Saber never beat Fake Assassin in Fate.

Saber beat Fake Assassin in UBW, but only because he bent his sword.

It was a combination of both luck AND skill, and just pure heroism.

I don't know what it is about heroes but they always tend to survive mortal wounds.

You have to realize if they went into the middle of those battles with no experience depending on just luck, a peasant soldier would have just chopped them apart.

Many of the guys named in ROTK died from arrows, or in battles with other guys named in the book.

So luck and pure fighting experience, not to mention raw strength all contributed to their glory it basically is a very grand fairytale that has a lot of actual real people and events in it.

Whilas, japan's generals and bignames would never ever think of just running into the fray, because they knew there was a good chance they would die.

Hell, the last time generals fought with his troops is in the roman era.

You can really idealize the people in that particular war in China.
