I don't know how many of you were around for Vengeance in Little Monstergirl City, but I was a massive fan of it and YBA in general and the fact that he had just disappeared without finishing the story made me just miserable.

Unfortunately I haven't been able to find him, but I did recently stumble into some writings from him relating to the paths he wanted the story to take, and some spoilers for their endings. Since YBA seems to have permanently vanished, this stuff is likely the best conclusion that fanboys like us are gonna get.

I'm working on pooling it all together in one big pastebin. After that I'll figure out how to share it properly. Till then, have a picture of his original route plan and some one-paragraph summaries he wrote for some other guys way back. Some of these are close to a decade old so, no guarantees on their quality. Hope I didn't fuck the formatting up too bad. I probably did.

The end that was never a choice in the original story. What if you let the asshole Vice President of the Archery Club run you off that day? What if you never snapped and assaulted her? You're tired of everything, ready to just give up before the adventure even starts. When the evil blue creature your father married teases you this time, you don't resist. And whether it's a hornet crying tears into your shoulder while she rapes away the sorrow from being dumped or a nervous kappa studying her first dick up close, you're little more than a toy, broken down further and further every day.

Compiler's note: I am pretty sure that YBA never worked out these stories at all, and just left them in their prototype state. I don't even think we reached the "junction" that would put us on the path of reading these routes at all. I do think Jack was introduced- IIRC that's the jabberwock girl that was "out of the loop". Lot of guys wanted to have her get an ending of her own. She didn't even get a route. What a shame.

Well, remember what June is: the reproductive strategy of her species is based around having incredibly addictive venom. They bite some poor fool, turn him into a junkie, and then keep him on a (sometimes literal) leash, using him as a walking sperm bank and not much else. Combine that reproductive strategy with June's own insecurity, insatiable need to control others and extremely vengeful nature and you get a very unpleasant person. She's basically a female angler fish.

The story then puts her in the same room with the MC, who is also just overflowing with cruelty and paranoia, and you get a situation where the only possible outcome is the two brutalizing each other in an miserable power struggle.

That's what made Vengeance so enthralling to me. It felt like watching Breaking Bad for the first time, where you realize that as a viewer, these characters are just going to keep getting meaner and meaner.

Another good comparison would be to The Boys. Like, "yeah, you give superpowers to a bunch of insecure teenagers, add some hypersexuality to the mix, and this is what would happen." None of it felt forced to me. It made complete sense. This world, and the people in it, just aren't ready for MGs yet.

Yeah you remembered correctly! That Cheshire was Trisha, the braided chesh you saw up here >>37826245 She was actually a main character, and her sister Nessa was important too. They had a lot of sex scenes, some of which were pretty fucked up but others were a lot more pure and innocent, which I really appreciated. That was the other nice thing about Vengeance, it was never edgy. Bad things happened because the characters were flawed, not because the writer was a repressed sadist. The mc wanted things to be good, things to be simple, he just didn't have the choice or the trust. Vengeance had a lot of happy moments- like the meeting with Nina's mom, or when MC met Trisha+Nessa's parents, or the jabberwock side character who was a complete breath of fresh air because she wasn't just a brute. Trisha and Nessa were both supposed to have routes of their own too. You saw nessa's up here, which was "Modern Welfare." I think I managed to find a pastebin fragment of Trisha's route, which I'll share as soon as I can.

I'll be posting some more excerpts from Vengeance tomorrow. Some good, some bad, and some junefag. I think this might be a controversial take, and I also think this might end up not being the case at all. heh. I wouldn't call it that. There are some genuinely upbeat and optimistic parts sprinkled into it that prevent it from becoming an edgefest. But it is still miserable, and you don't need to read it if you don't feel like watching a bunch of bastards be bastards to each other for 80% of the story.
I think it stayed with me because it made me appreciate what I had, as faggy as that sounds. There's a point in the story where the mc, and the mgs he's been fighting just kinda sit back and recognize that they're all awful, but because they've been awful for so long and because their circumstances are so awful, they can't really be anything else. reading vengeance helped me I think appreciate and realize that as much of a fuckup as I am, and as messy as my life is, I can get second chances and live well. that realization made me feel free and optimistic in a profound way. But it's also a story i can't reread. it's just too raw. it did it's magic and i guess now i can just let it die and move on.

Trish isn't evil. Nina isn't evil. Jack isn't evil. Their parents aren't evil (outside of the mc's succumom) You just haven't read very far in. I don't think anybody in this story is legitimately evil; I guess june gets the closest, and she brings out the absolute worst in the mc too. But even she has a few legitimate complaints that get brought up later. I get why you would feel its an edgefest, because vengeance is so frontloaded with misery. And again a lot of my appreciation it is personal, not everybody will like stories like this. I'm a weirdo with a dark curiosity. but even if you don't like dark shit, there is just not a lot of stuff that is as fascinating, miserable, and logical as vengeance. I get why these characters are such assholes. They're made wrong, incomplete, all screwed up inside. And they're set loose into the world and their flaws bring out the flaws in others. it's fascinating to watch. it satisfies that dark curiosity i have, gives me some sort of catharsis. I finish it and think "oh, that's what it would be like if everything in my life went wrong. glad I don't have to deal with that." And it's legitimately not edgy either. There are optimistic characters, happy moments, the promise of betterment just out of reach. The characters all in some way want to be better. They just can't be better..
