Xavier conquest most of them. Vassaling uesugi gives extra scene but no commanders. Also tenshisect as ally is pretty useful and you get seigan and bald guy in your army.

Someone wrote about how a vassaled house cannot be attacked by your opponents, meaning you could technically use them as a "wall" if there's another hostile house right behind it, but I've never bothered to verify if it really works.

Ive done this. It can be useful. Use a vassal as a wall that your enemies cant attack, but you can attack them. Nice if you get a couple of countries waging war all at once.

Call for reinforcements always shows as long as you aren't already waiting for reinforcements to show.
I've never seen 'increase char. points +3' appear more than once in my games...

It depends on if you're going for points, or if you're just trying to beat the game. If the former, +3 char points is the way to go. If the latter, reinforcements are good, if you don't use Rance that often (and if you don't, make sure he has at least 4 action flags), but if you do, then give him the action flag.

Is it stronger than Orochi?

It does a annoying laser which hit all of my units for around 150-200 ervery time.

I wouldn't say it's stronger than the Orochi... the Orochi has more Health and has five minions with 410 Health each. Gunagan just does a bit more damage overall since it always hits six characters for significant damage.
The annoying part about him is that there's no event to reset your action points before you fight him, so you have to enter and leave the dungeon a bunch of times if you want to fight him with a fresh team.

There's no way to slow the gourds breaking, however you do have until turn 90 to break 5 gourds. So that's 90 turns you can put to some use before shit hits the fan.

Action fans and reinforcements are obvious enough.
Elite troops when Rance is at 6 (preferably 7) in important stats, lower replenishment cost if gold is an issue at all, Kabuki in high difficulty playthroughs... common sense should be enough to help you decide.

Wondering if i could find that rare creature on here, a helpful /jp/? I d/l rance and I've got it working fine but when I d/l the yandere translation I can't get it to work. If I merge the folders in the eng. language patch into the game folders the game statrs up but goes black after the little animation of alice sweeping at the beginning. A quick suggestion is, AFTER the Honnouji temple events, go on a conquering spree(almost every time you conquer a country, there is some Sat you can get). You can conquer gourd countries you did not before if you tried to stall Xavier, like Iga or Akashi and get some nice quick SAT.
Also, go to a few dungeons to trigger more Sill and Suzume events.

Yeah, I normally do that, but I was thinking if there was a guide of which characters to clear quickly for SAT points. Maria, Suzume and Sill always seem to be good bets but besides them I always feel I'm missing out.

By the way, I haven't cleared the Hara bitch nor the jerk archer... any suggestions on how to do the archer (I normally don't the girl because it takes too many steps but I always feel it takes too long)

All the reinforcements give at least 5 Sat and they are useful so keep them around (have Kanami for permits for example). You could get 40-45 Sat relatively easy just from them. As for 'Quick clears', check the easier ones here and see which are available.

After I install the game and the translation files I move the "system 40" file from the translation over to to the game files, but that doesn't translate the game only the menu options around the game screen. If I move all the translation files into the game files the game stops working. That happens both if I override and replace the pre-existing game files and when I move and keep both. Can anyone help and say what i should do?

Who are you messing with and at which stage of the game? Enemies usually attack you twice if they have a lot of commanders and a big army.
I usually let them take over an area if they don't try to retake their territory, they auto lose it anyways after I conquer them.

Tried tokugawa, but once the racoon's themselves take the field it's almost impossible to win.
Tried the gun smith now, more doable but still hard.
That was in turn 23~28, tenshi sect has declared war in that time as well (but dont want to kill them off right now). Now spending a few turns getting rance's SAT up to 50 for the extra fan.

Yes, everyone knows Kouhime is a Footman unit and can't learn Assassination 3 in-game.
However, the Rance universe is just wacky enough that it's very, very easy to imagine raising a character to a certain affection level or completing a dungeon and watching a funny scene where the character somehow learns a previously unattainable version of a skill, in a totally hilarious and improbable manner.

Pretty much every nation involved in conquest took women as plunder, historically. That only sort of stopped in the last hundred and fifty years or so, and even then, while 'officially' stopped, it still happens (though modern first-world militaries tend to punish soldiers that do it).

There were some commanders in the past that outlawed it amongst their men as well, realizing that the effects on the conquered populace would outweigh any morale damage it might do amongst their own men, but they were few and far between.

Why not?
If you assassinate Shingen early, there will be very few commanders dead and the three Takeda generals will be hired almost instantly. Most likely by Hara if you've been killing only their commanders.
Even without doing that... Hara does reemerge on its own. If it's the only house hiring, the three Takeda generals will all end up there sooner or later.

Oh man, i'm on kenshin's route and she just went down to level 1... training her only adds 2 levels a time... is there like a faster way to get her back up to speed?

I have a question. Is it worth it to recruit the fabulous old man, Itou Kakka? The guy sucks in combat but his other stats are attractive.

You know, I'm really disappointed that the satisfaction bonus to learn Rance Attack didn't have some sort of funny insert. Kinda like in FSN where Shirou asks Saber for a super cool move.

You know, i'm honestly amazed at the sheer amount of different character portraits and CG scenes. Even on my second playthrough doing kenshin's route I'm encountering an other load of characters I haven't seen in my first one.
Did they have one talented guy churning out new character designs 24/7 or something?

If you were disappointed in that, try the satisfaction bonus Kentarou Slash (obviously you need Kentarou - I forget if he has to be demonform already). It's pretty much exactly what you're looking for.

Hey, does anyone know if the Merchant ability stacks? Like, if two units have Merchant, the 5% turns into 10%? Has anyone actually tested it to see?

I'm guessing it does, since you can have 2 seperate items that increase money as well (half gold and full gold statue's)
If so, Assest tech could possibly also stack

Merchant stacks.
Asset Tech stacks too, but the max amount of gold you can get in a turn is still 2000.
If you're already getting 2000 per turn, you can still benefit from Asset Tech characters because it decreases the amount of gold you need to have to get that 2000. For example, if you have the Ashigaru Kuge sister and 50000g, and you get Ai, you can spend 25000g and still get 2000 per turn.
