I think a Manga based around the Human village would be interesting.
I'm not sure how long this supposed "peace" has been going for, but if relationships between Youkai and Humans existed for hundreds of years, it would be an interesting read about a Youkai who's been "Married" (Or whatever the equivalent is) to a Human/s, all of them dying of old age without a single Wrinkle on the Youkai's face.

I wonder if the western Touhou Project would cover something like this in the future.

I'm talking no outside powers, just him, and his words, after breaking through one barrier, befriending a Youkai, he ventures outside the Village, and is almost immediately attacked.

The one he befriends helps him because of pure coincidence, and through that Youkai he makes more and more Youkai acquaintances, learns how they work, what kind of things make them less violent, almost manipulating them.

Obviously, just an idea, but something along those lines would be pretty cool.
